  10.      Hello and welcome to the exciting world of AccessNet!  AccessNet was
  11. established on April 10th of 1991.  What makes AccessNet different is that
  12. professionalism and quality come first.  AccessNet has the friendliest group of
  13. SysOps whose collective concern for friendliness and fun, keeps the callers
  14. coming back for more!
  15.  
  16.      The purpose for creating AccessNet was simple.  We believe that
  17. participating in net-mail should be one of the most fun and exciting activities
  18. of BBS'g!  There are many netmail networks out there that somehow leave you
  19. feeling humiliated.  From the obnoxious to the primadanas, Hubs that don't
  20. care enough about their supporting Nodes.  Without the necessary support,
  21. setting up and maintaining a netmail system can be a frustrating task.   We,
  22. however, care about each and every participating BBS, whether they are a Node,
  23. Hub, or a Regional Hub!

  25.      We do NOT have moderators in our network... We have Conference Hosts.
  26. Hosts are there to stimulate conversation, not to stifle it.  Our policy on
  27. adding new conferences to the network rests on the placement of a qualified
  28. and friendly host to that conference. We depend on the ideas and suggestions
  29. from those who participate in the network for direction and growth.

  31.      We currently use RoseMail, a QWK based system, to transfer our mail.
  32. NOTE: In order to make AccessNet more widely available, any compatible QWK
  33. format system will be OK to use!  Although RoseMail is designed for PCBoard
  34. systems, they will be coming out with a version (very soon) that will be
  35. compatible with a wide variety of popular bulletin board systems without the
  36. need for any external UTI-like driver.  The big plus about RoseMail is that it
  37. is FREE to all PCBoard SysOps!  Although not official yet - it is said that it
  38. will be FREE to ALL SysOps (when the general version comes out).

  40.      RoseMail is a very versatile and user-friendly net-mail system.   It is
  41. setup as a door on your BBS... Not as a front door!  (Upon connecting with a
  42. BBS - one should not have to 'hit escape' to log on!  Most people who are
  43. calling a board are calling to utilize the BBS...NOT to transfer mail.)  As an
  44. internal door, RoseMail will never annoy your users!  Other features include:
  45. the ability to send and request files, manage and maintain all mail transfers
  46. automatically, a built in communications program that can automatically write
  47. your logon scripts, allows the handling of private and encrypted mail without
  48. lengthy security or ID numbers that have confused meaning, Hub software is
  49. built in, allows you to add your BBS's Tagline, and many many other useful and
  50. needed features.  An added bonus for RoseMail is that it is also an OFFLINE
  51. QWK mail door for your callers!

  53.      AccessNet has many different types of BBS systems in our network.  As a
  54. result, we have a diverse group of SysOps that make up AccessNet.  Other than
  55. the initial, ONE TIME, $15.00 registration fee, AccessNet does NOT have ANY
  56. yearly fees!  AccessNet is a not-for-profit network.  For a complete list of
  57. all available conferences and newsgroups, please refer to ACCESSNT.LST.
