Installation
Installation of F-PROT involves copying all the files which make up the
package to a separate directory on the hard disk or on a network server.
One line is then added to AUTOEXEC.BAT or CONFIG.SYS to load the
VIRSTOP.EXE program.
Earlier versions of F-PROT offered semi-automatic installation, but it was
very limited - only allowed loading VIRSTOP from AUTOEXEC, and did not
work on networked machines.
We came to the conclusion that the installation should be handled with a
dedicated "INSTALL" program - such a program now exists for the
Professional version, but a similar program for the shareware version is
under development.
VIRSTOP.EXE
The recommended way to load VIRSTOP is to place a command like the
following in the CONFIG.SYS file.
DEVICE=C:\F-PROT\VIRSTOP.EXE
or, if you are using DOS 5, you may use:
DEVICEHIGH=C:\F-PROT\VIRSTOP.EXE
However, if you are using certain types of network software, such as PC-NFS
or Novell Netware, you MUST load the program from AUTOEXEC.BAT, after the
network software is loaded. This problem will be solved in the near
future.
