  13. more details. In addition, each program has built-in help screens. 
  14. This is a complete and current list of all programs available 
  15. from this author. The dollar amounts mentioned in each description
  16. are the suggested registration fees, not the cost to you. 
  17. The Bonus programs have no registration fee: BUS, SETCOL, etc
  18. See ORDER.FRM for sampler disk prices.

  30. RDIR: DISK USE PIE CHART
  31.  
  32. DOS's "DIR" does not show the size of subdirectories. RDIR shows the Relative 
  33. Size of Subdirectories in an ordered list, a Pie chart and a Bar chart. 
  34. Pinpoints where disk space is being used. CGA, EGA, or VGA. Navigate around 
  35. your disk by selecting & examining directories from the list on the graphics 
  36. screen using arrow keys. Or enter drive/directory name from the command line. 
  37. Latest revision allows deletion of empty directories and the use of directory 
  38. names with extensions. RFILE can now be run from RDIR to examine the relative 
  39. size of files in the selected directory. Reviewed in PCM Magazine June 1991

  43. RFILE: RELATIVE FILE SIZE
  44. Shows Relative FILE size of all files in the selected directory
  45. in a pie chart. Enter a directory name or extension such as *.TXT
  46. on the command line. Or edit the directory name as displayed on
  47. the graphics screen. An aid to finding where the disk space is
  48. being used up. Latest version adds PageUp & Down, Home & End while
  49. viewing list of files. Requires CGA, EGA or VGA. Ver 1.17 $7.00

  74. SINCE provides a printable list of all files modified SINCE 
  75. the date [and optional time] you enter on the command line.
  76. Or _only_ those files with the selected attributes A H S R.
  77. Type "SINCE" at the top level, followed by the date, and it will list
  78. all the files worked on by you or others since that date.
  79. Lets you know when to backup your hard disk drive.
  80. Type "SINCE a" at the top level of your disk to see how many

  87. STF Shows and compares Two ASCII text Files side-by-side. 
  88. Select filenames from a directory list. Use PageUp & Down, Home,
  89. End & Arrow Keys to move around each file independently or together.
  90. Differences are "Highlighted" by dimming unequal lines in one file.
  91. Optionally ignores spaces in comparison. A single file may be viewed
  92. full width. Searches for and highlights found text. Sliding Centerline
  93. varies the relative viewing width of each file. Optional VGA graphics
  94. mode. STF was chosen to be included in "DOS 6.0 Power Tools" by Bantam
  95. Books. Latest version saves and restores numlock status. Ver 1.45 $10.00

  98. WDN: WIPE DIRECTORY NAMES
  99. You may have dozens of empty directories on your hard drive, taking up
  100. valuable disk space. Typically an empty directory uses 2048 or 4096
  101. bytes on a hard drive.
  102. WDN will seek out and remove hidden and unused subdirectories with one
  103. command. If DOS allowed RD *.*/s, you would not need WDN, but RD requires
  104. that you type in every name. WDN saves you time. Ver 1.20  $5.00

  113. BUS is a menu-driven program selector specifically designed to
  114. provide several levels of help for use with the author's disk-
  115. management utilities. This will be discontinued when all programs
  116. are revised to contain the help & menus.

  119. DD.BAT: DELETE DIRECTORY
  120. DD is a simple batch which deletes all of the files in a named
  121. directory and then deletes the directory name.

  124. DOSUTIL: DOS UTILITY USER'S GUIDE
  125. A text file containing information for the novice DOS user. How
  126. to setup & organize your hard drive.

  128. NUMOFF & NUMON: NUMLOCK OFF & ON
  129. Call from a startup batch for programs which need the arrow keys in the
  130. numeric keypad, or to restore the NumLock status as you prefer it.

  132. SET_BRDR: SET BORDER
  133. Enter "set_brdr" plus a number to put a border around your text screen
  134. or "set_brdr" without a number to remove the border.

  137. SETCOL is used to set the text and graphics background colors for the

  146. BFM is a menu-driven program selector specifically designed to
  147. provide several levels of help for use with the author's
  148. Financial programs.

  150. CHECK: EASY TO USE DATABASE 
  151. Helps you to save time and get your finances organized.
  152. Generates reports by category, date, amount. CHECK is a simple
  153. data entry and report generating system. It produces summaries
  154. of bills, checks, etc within a specified date range and dollar
  155. amount for chosen categories. Use it to see "Where has all the
  156. money gone?  $10.00

  159. PNL: PROFIT 'N LOSS
  160. Profit and Loss (FIFO) for Mutual Funds or Stocks. PNL figures
  161. Profit & Loss for Mutual Funds or Stocks using the First-In
  162. First-Out method. Saves tedious calculations. $10.00

  165. ABOUT THESE PROGRAMS:
  166. These programs were written by me to meet a need which was not met by either 
  167. DOS commands nor by commercially available software. If Norton Utilities or 
  168. XTREE could do the job, I would use their version before spending the time 
  169. writing code. These programs are intended to improve productivity and save 
  170. time. The first utility I wrote was RDIR. The DOS "DIR" command shows the size 
  171. of Files, but only the name of the Sub-Directories. I wanted to know how big 
  172. they were to help me decide what was taking up so much disk space.
  173.  
  174. Several programs have been revised recently in response to customer 
  175. suggestions. Any program which previously changed the state of the NumLock 
  176. switch on your keyboard now reads whether NumLock is on or off at the start 
  177. and restores to the original state on exit. The programs can now deal with 
  178. directory names which use extensions. The idea of calling RFILE from within 
  179. RDIR also came from a customer. SETCOL no longer requires that the target 
  180. program be registered in order for the colors to take effect.

  183. ABOUT SHAREWARE:
  184. Shareware is a term to describe software that is distributed on a "Try Before 
  185. You Buy" basis. It is not "Freeware" nor is it "Public Domain". The price 
  186. listed on the order form covers only the cost of the time and materials 
  187. involved in copying the programs. If you find the programs useful, you are 
  188. expected to register them. If you don't, you are violating the Copyright laws. 
  189. Registration provides the author with an incentive to write more useful 
  190. programs to increase your productivity. Support is provided to registered 
  191. users either online using The Internet or DELPHI networks or via U.S. Mail.
  192. You are encouraged to make copies and give them to your friends, or upload 
  193. the programs to bulletin boards. They must not have been modified, and all 
  194. documentation must be included. The files which must be included are
  195. listed in each program's help screen or in the README, if supplied.
  196. For additional information about registration, see "REGINFO.TXT" 
  197. at the DOS prompt.

  199. UPGRADE POLICY: 
  200. Any program for which you have registered an earlier version
  201. will be supplied on the disk as a registered program. If you were 
  202. registered for the now discontinued programs ATTR or SFT, your 
  203. registration has been automatically transferred to SINCE and STF
  204. respectively, as they incorporate the functions of the older programs.
  205. To obtain the most recent version of a single program, use the "Single  
  206. Title:" line on the Order Form.

  208. PRICING: 
  209. I have tried to make the pricing as flexible as possible. It would be simpler 
  210. to charge a flat $20.00 for registration, and include a disk with the latest 
  211. version of the software. But, when you register, typically for $10.00, I send 
  212. a letter to let you know if it is really worthwhile to upgrade to the latest 
  213. version. I also include a copy of the latest catalog. If you decide that you 
  214. need the latest version of the program you registered, you can get it for 
  215. $3.00 plus the $5.00 S&H. So even if you find you need the latest revision, it 
  216. only adds up to $18.00.
