Here is a summary of modem setup string information collected from
many sources over the past few years. Hopefully it will serve you
as it has helped us. The modem models and manuf. are listed in
order along with sample strings of the various switches used to
configure the modem registers. With this information, along with
the switch explanations contained in MODEM1.DAT you will at least
have some guidance as to what initialization strings work on your
modem.

This assumes the Telebit is in ECM (Enhanced Command Mode).
To place your modem into ECM, follow these steps:
1. Start with the modem turned off and the A/B switch in the
A position.
2. Press and hold the T/D switch while turning on the modem.
Release the T/D switch -AFTER- the MR indicator comes on.
This will store the ECM default settings in Profile A of non-
volatile memory.

This assumes the Telebit is in CCM (Conventional Command Mode).
To place your modem into CCM, follow these steps:
1. Turn the modem off.
2. Hold in the T/D switch and turn the power on. Release the
switch when the PEP,CD and MR lights are flashing. Ignore
any other lights that may be lit from here on.
3. Tap the T/D switch until just the CD light is lit (not
flashing). The PEP and MR lights are OFF.
4. Press and hold the T/D switch (2 seconds or more) until the
CD light is flashing again.
