KENYA, AFRICA for FS-5
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
These SD-AFRIC.FPD and SD-AFRIC.NDX files are for use with RMMFP
for Enrico Schiratti's KENYA scenery for FS-5. I called it SD-AFRIC and
not Kenya, so we can add other African Cities in case Enrico decides to build
some more <g>; B_U_T_ keep a calculator handy . . . here's why!
RMMFP only reads the FS4 coordinates so I had to translate the TRUE
coordinates to FS4 coordinates so RMMFP can read them. But when I
used the EUROPE conversion of COORDS.EXE it gave me the reading in
the "minus" and RMMFP does not acknowledge "minus" digits. So I played
around with the US conversion of COORDS.EXE and it gave me a reading of 90
degrees less than the true direction. When I generated and printed a route
from Dar-Es-Salaam to Mombasa RMMFP told me to fly a course of 289 degrees;
to this I added 90 degrees to a course of 19 degrees, and took me to Mombasa
(289+90=379 379-360=19).
So..., after you print your flight-plan, take a calculator and ADD 90 degrees
to the courses given: Example: if RMMFP says COURSE 206, add 90 to 206 and fly
COURSE 296; if it says COURSE 24, add 90 to 24 and fly 114, etc. Of course
this is very approximate, but then the VOR or NDB needle will put you on
course.
I am also enclosing a Lotus file, twin sister to my Airpts??.zip which
contains list of airports worldwide, which file covers the Navaids of the
FS-5 Kenya scenery. Grazie, Enrico, you did a good job!
I think this helps you to travel around Kenya and Tanzania, Africa. If
you have any comments or ideas, please speak up. Enjoy!
