  4. Installation
  5. ------------

  7.   To install Pool Shark do the following :
  8.   
  9.   1) If you have downloaded Pool Shark from a BBS, unzip
  10.      the compression file and there will be 3 files that
  11.      are decompressed : README, INSTALL.EXE, and P-SHARK.
  12.      Go into the directory with these files and enter
  13.      INSTALL at the DOS prompt.
  14.  
  15.      If you have received Pool Shark on a floppy, put the Pool 
  16.      Shark floppy into drive A: or drive B and type :
  17.      A:INSTALL or B:INSTALL
  18.   
  19.   2) Answer the drive and directory questions that the install
  20.      process asks, or just accept the defaults by pressing Enter.
  21.      If you accept the defaults, Pool Shark will be installed in
  22.      the directory \POOL on the requested destination hard drive.
  23.  
  24.   3) After installation is complete, the game will start up 
  25.      automatically.  To run Pool Shark later, go into the 
  26.      installation directory and type in POOL at the prompt.
  27.   
  28.   4) To get help use on-line Help by pressing "H" or left click 
  29.      on  (H), or pick Help from the Menu.  You can get a hard copy
  30.      of the Help by printing out the file "pool.hlp" in the Pool 
  31.      Shark directory.

  33.   Hardware Requirements
  34.   ---------------------
  35.   o  VGA or EGA monitor.
  36.   
  37.   o  286, 386, 486 or higher processor.
  38.  
  39.   o  Hard Drive
  40.   
  41.   o  Mouse : Make sure that a mouse driver is installed, before 
  42.              running Pool Shark.  See your mouse manual for details.
  43.              If you are running Pool Shark from Windows, don't assume
  44.              that because Windows is already using the mouse, that a
  45.              mouse driver is installed and therefore useable by Pool
  46.              Shark.  This in not necessarily the case.  You must 
  47.              explicitly install, a mouse driver, so that it is 
  48.              resident in memory, before starting Windows.  If Pool 
  49.              Shark starts up, and the Menu flashes on and off while
  50.              receiving no keyboard or mouse input, there is no mouse
  51.              driver installed.  Hit <CTRL>Break and install a mouse
  52.              drive.

  54.   o  RAM  :  Pool Shark requires 640 K of conventional memory and
  55.              needs to have DOS run in high memory.  These lines should 
  56.              be in the CONFIG.SYS file :
  57.  
  58.                  DEVICE=C:\DOS\HIMEM.SYS
  59.                  DOS=HIGH
  60.              
  61.              If you get a message "Not enough Heap Space",  try 
  62.              rebooting and running Pool Shark with the following 
  63.              in the CONFIG.SYS file :

  65.                  DEVICE=C:\DOS\EMM386.EXE 
  66.  
  67.              If you don't have enough conventional memory available
  68.              to run Pool Shark, but have extended memory and Windows,
  69.              Pool Shark can be run from Windows, but it will  run
  70.              more slowly. (Also remember to install a mouse driver 
  71.              before starting Windows)
