GOOGLEII.DOC -- Documentation file for program "Google-Eyes"
"Google-Eyes" is a (hopefully) amusing Windows program that displays,
within its window, a funny face whose eyes follow the (animated and
sparkling) mouse cursor around. Pressing the mouse buttons causes
interesting changes in the face. There are menu options to change the
appearance of the face, including hair, beard, eyes, and various color
options. The program can also be set to follow the mouse cursor when the
cursor is moving outside the program's window. When it is minimized, the
program's icon is also animated. Additional comments can be found in the
ABOUT/MORE INFO menu item in the Google-Eyes program itself.
The Google-Eyes distribution package consists of three files:
GOOGLEII.DOC -- ASCII documentation file (this file)
GOOGLEII.EXE -- Windows program file
GOOGLEHK.DLL -- Windows dynamic-link library
GOOGLEHK.DLL is a dynamic-link library, which is necessary in order to
have GOOGLEII.EXE track cursor movements outside its own window. Even
though you might not use this feature, Windows will not run the program
file GOOGLEII.EXE unless GOOGLEHK.DLL is present in the same directory.
Thus, both files are required in order to run the program.
In order to run Google-Eyes, choose RUN from the FILE submenu of the Program
Manager or the File Manager and give the pathname for GOOGLEII.EXE, or
double-click on the File manager entry for the file GOOGLEII.EXE. You can
also install Google-Eyes as a Program Item within one of the Program Groups
on your desktop, and then double-click on its icon to run it. In order to
install Google-Eyes as a Program Item, first copy the files to a directory
on your hard disk. Then follow one of the following two procedures:
Procedure #1:
1) Have both the destination Program Group and the File Manager visible
on the desktop at the same time. Make sure there is some blank space
available within the Program Group (expand the window if necessary).
2) Navigate through the File Manager until the entry for the file
"GOOGLEII.EXE" is visible within its window.
3) Move the mouse cursor to the entry for the file "GOOGLEII.EXE". Press
the left mouse button (this should highlight the entry) and then, while
holding the button down, "drag" the mouse cursor over to the blank space
in the Program Group. The mouse cursor will change to a document icon
with a "+" within it as you do this, and may change its appearance
several times as you traverse the screen. When the cursor is over the
blank space in the destination Program Group, release the mouse button.
The Google-Eyes icon and the file name "Googleii" should now appear in
the destination Program Group.
4) If you wish, you can change the name associated with the icon as follows:
Click on the Google-Eyes icon to highlight it. Then select the Program
Manager menu item FILE/PROPERTIES. Change the first entry (Description)
from "Googleii" to "Google-Eyes" and then click on the "OK" pushbutton or
press "Enter". You can then "neaten up" the rows of icons by selecting
the WINDOW/ARRANGE ICONS menu item in the Program Manager.
Procedure #2:
1) Have the destination Program Group visible on the desktop. Make sure
there is some blank space available within it (expand the window if
necessary). Click on any icon within it to highlight it.
2) Select the Program Manager menu item FILE/NEW. A dialog box labelled
"New Program Object" with "Program Item" selected will appear. Click
on the "OK" pushbutton or press "Enter".
3) A dialog box labelled "Program Item Properties" will appear. Fill it
in as follows (use "Tab" or the mouse to move between text lines):
"Description" = "Google-Eyes".
"Command Line" = full pathname for the program file (for example,
"C:\GOOGLEII\GOOGLEII.EXE", assuming the files
are in a directory named "C:\GOOGLEII")
Then click on the "OK" pushbutton or press "Enter". You don't have to
fill in the "Working Directory" line; Windows will do that for you.
4) You can then "neaten up" the rows of icons by selecting the
WINDOW/ARRANGE ICONS menu item in the Program Manager.

P.S. If you entered the command "TYPE GOOGLEII.DOC" and part of this text
file scrolled off the screen too quickly to read, enter instead the command
"MORE <GOOGLEII.DOC". In order to print out a hard copy of this file, enter
the command "COPY GOOGLEII.DOC PRN" (you may have to manually FORM FEED the
last page of the listing out of a laser printer), or import this ASCII file
into your favorite word processor and then print it from there.
