DWNLD.PPE & DWNLDCD.PPE, written by Steven Hauswirth
═════════════════════════════════════════════════════
DWNLD.PPE & DWNLDCD.PPE are replacements for PCBoard's "Enter the Filename to
Download" prompt. It makes a full screen download counter that displays info
about the last ten files flagged for a batch download.
This info includes: filename, filesize, file date (DWNLD.PPE only), transfer
time, free file, and no time.
Files suggested for operation:
DWNLD.PPE The full screen download counter PPE
DWNLD.PPS The source code for DWNLD.PPE
DWNLDCD.PPE The full screen download counter PPE (CD-ROM version)
DWNLDCD.PPS The source code for DWNLD.PPE (CD-ROM version)
DWNLD.DOC This file <g>.
Installation is long but fairly simple:
1) Copy all the suggested files to your C:\PCB\PPL directory (or any other
location of your choosing)
2) Run MKPCBTXT to edit your PCBTEXT file (should be done for each PCBTEXT
you have).
3) Press the F3 function key and select record #61.
4) You'll see a line that says something similar to:
Enter the filename to Download (Enter)=none
Replace it with a line such as this (reflecting your chosen dir):
!C:\PCB\PPL\DWNLD.PPE (or !\C:\PCB\PPL\DWNLDCD.PPE)
5) Exit PCBTEXT and make sure that your batch file that loads each node of
the BBS has its environment variables PCBDRIVE and PCBDIR set to the
nodes home directory.
6) Make sure that you load SHARE.EXE in your autoexec.bat.
And thats all to it!
WARNING!!!! This DWNLD.PPE does show the date that DOS reports for the file
in the batch. For systems running on hard-drives it is very fast, but I don't
know how fast that would be for those running on a CD-ROM. Those of you using
CD-ROMs should try this PPE and if it is too slow, use the DWNLDCD.PPE as it
does not show the date of the files.
The source codes for these PPEs is located within this archive as DWNLD.PPS
and DWNLDCD.PPS. Modify it as you need to for your system, but please do
not redistribute the modified source code.
If anyone has any suggestions as to new features then either leave me mail
on Salt Air, U'NI net, the PPLD network, or call my board, The Power Palace
at (312) 594-0643.
