  7. Run this in the same directory as your DOOM v1.1 registered
  8. DOOM.WAD file.

  11. Q - moves back one picture
  12. A - moves forward one picture
  13. P - moves forward one palette
  14. A - moves back one palette
  15. T - toggles 1/15 panels
  16. ESC - exits!

  21. Well, as you can see, I'm currently on .005 of this, so don't
  22. expect much.  There are a bunch of 64x64 pictures at the end of
  23. the DOOM.WAD.  This views them.  Unfortunately, I have no idea
  24. how to set up the palette the way they are displayed in DOOM.
  25. This will be a problem throughout this program.  There are 14
  26. 256 color palettes set up in the front of DOOM.WAD Thats what P
  27. and A cycle through.  Obviously, this doesn't do anything very
  28. useful.

  30. Take a look at the way DOOM displays floors and walls.  It
  31. changes the color of EACH INDIVIDUAL pixel as it goes along.  In
  32. other words, even though a floor panel might consist of just one
  33. color, DOOM displays it as a number of different colors at the
  34. same time.  It's almost as though it's not just a question of
  35. changing a palette.  It's like DOOM looks at each floor/wall/etc
  36. panel pixel and assigns it a new color.  Or something.  I can't
  37. explain it.  Just walk slowly through DOOM and watch how the
  38. floors and walls and other things change colors.

  40. Also, the 'move back and forth between pictures' doesn't check
  41. to see if you have gone before or beyond the first and last
  42. picture.  So eventually, you will be looking at garbage.  This
  43. shouldn't pose any threat to your system, 99.9% sure of that.
  44. But no guarantees!  If you see more than 4 screens of complete
  45. garbage, go back the other way!

  48. This is extremely BETA software - just for the amusement of the
  49. users of the Eschaton.  If you're not one of them, well, then, I
  50. guess someone thought this program was cool enough to upload
  51. somewhere else.  What people will do for points these days!
