MIDWEST SOFTWARE COMPANY
NOTE: Remember to register! See the Registration Form for all the
good benefits of registration! It is well worth it to register your
copy of DELIVERY ROUTE! If users don't register, authors look for
other ways to market their software.
NOTE: About a dozen example customers and their example trans-
actions are optionally included with DELIVERY ROUTE at installation.
During installation, you will be asked if you wish to install the
Example Data: answer "Yes" if you intend to do the tutorial or if you
just want to start with some customers and transactions to help you
learn how to use DELIVERY ROUTE.
********************** LEGAL STUFF ************************
This program is provided 'as is' and includes no warranties,
expressed or implied, including any warranty of merchantability. The
entire risk for its use rests with the user. In no event will the
author or Midwest Software Company or the shareware distributor be
liable to anyone for any damages, or any incidental or any
consequential damages arising from the use of DELIVERY ROUTE LIGHT,
even if caused by errors in the program and the author or Midwest
Software Company or the shareware distributor had been advised of the
errors and the possibilities of such damages.
DELIVERY ROUTE LIGHT is copyright 1993, Midwest Software Company of
Grand Rapids, Michigan. DELIVERY ROUTE LIGHT may be copied in
unmodified form, and distributed for any nominal fee not to exceed
$6. It may not be used as part of another program under any
circumstances, and it may not be distributed with other files
intended to be used with DELIVERY ROUTE LIGHT. All other rights to
DELIVERY ROUTE LIGHT remain the exclusive property of Midwest
Software Company, 131 Burr Oak NE, Grand Rapids, MI 49505. Phone:
(616) 365-2830.
********************** THE SHAREWARE CONCEPT ************************
Shareware distribution gives users a chance to try software before
buying it. Copyright laws apply to both Shareware and commercial
software, and the copyright holder retains all rights, with a few
specific exceptions as stated in the documentation. Shareware
authors are accomplished programmers, just as commercial authors are,
and the programs are of comparable quality. (In both cases, there
are good programs and bad ones --- the shareware distribution method
allows you to try a program before you buy it, and so weed out the
bad ones. Commercial distribution doesn't allow for this.) The main
difference is the method of distribution. Shareware is a
distribution method, not a type of software.
NOTE: Since DELIVERY ROUTE LIGHT does not (repeat, does NOT) include
the program necessary to rebuild the index files in the event they
become corrupted, we do not recommend that you use DELIVERY ROUTE
LIGHT for anything but evaluation purposes. The omission of the
fixdata program has helped us provide DELIVERY ROUTE LIGHT on a
single diskette (minimizing your costs) and still maintain the appli-
cation's "try before you buy" posture. We do not provide the fixdata
program for DELIVERY ROUTE LIGHT as we do for DELIVERY ROUTE JUNIOR
and DELIVERY ROUTE 1.0.
********************* PRE-RELEASE SALE !!! ********************

discount. (Credit Card orders aren't billed until the order ships.)
********************** DID YOU SEE...? ********************
Did you see the July 1993 issue of PC Computing? On page 20, Ed Bott
wrote the Bill of Rights for the Usability Revolution. He listed
six things we should expect from a piece of software:
1. The right to proper packaging.
2. The right to hassle-free installation.
3. The right to complete compatability.
4. The right to not read the manual.
5. The right to an intuitive interface.
6. The right to no-questions-asked support.
This is _must_ reading! Compare this "Bill of Rights" to DELIVERY
ROUTE, and you'll see what a truly great computer application
DELIVERY ROUTE really is!!!
******************** DOS 6.0 USERS, NOW SEE HERE! ******************
When you install DELIVERY ROUTE LIGHT, the installation program will
ask you if you have DOS 6.0 or above. You should answer "Yes". This
will install a backup.exe program no longer provided by Microsoft as
of MS-DOS 6.0. If, when you do a backup, you still get an error
message that says "Incorrect DOS version", it's probably because you
have a previous version of backup.exe in your DOS directory, and
DOS' setver command is set for backup.exe. To make a long explana-
tion short: go to the DELIVERY ROUTE LIGHT program directory (C:\DRLT
if you accepted the default at installation), and type
del backup.exe <Enter>
You MUST be in the DELIVERY ROUTE LIGHT program directory when you do
this. This should correct the "Incorrect DOS version" problem.
NOTE: To reset all the customers, transactions, and remarks to the
way they were when you first installed them, simply go to the program
directory and type
reset <Enter>
and all the database information will be just like it was when you
first installed it.
*********************** One Last Thing... ************************
We spend a lot of time and effort to ensure that the software we
produce is completely problem-free. We also like to reward anyone
who is the first to report a problem we missed.
