INTRODUCTION 1
UNCONX (Opus Files Database UNCONverter) was designed to be used
with the files database of an Opus 1.73a system. Due to a chnage
in the files database for Opus versions after 1.73a, it should
not be used with any subsequent Opus release. A special version
for the Opus v1.79.x beta release is available on application to
me.
UNCON was originally written by Doug Boone to UNCONvert the Opus
files database and produce the "old" FILES.BBS files. It was for
this reason that the FILES.BBS files produced by Doug's UNCON do
not include the new information (ie alternate path, download
counter, uploader's name).
Thanks to Doug making the source to UNCON available to me, I made
some fairly trivial changes to the code to create UNCONX which
produces "new" FILES.BBS files which include the new information
(ie alternate path, download counter, uploader's name) stored in
the Opus files database. UNCONX is therefore an eXtended version
of UNCON -> UNCONX!
REQUIREMENTS
UNCONX requires an PC/MS-DOS or OS/2 based computer, a monochrome
or colour monitor, and a minimum of 80K RAM available to run the
program.
UNCONX USAGE AND SYNTAX
UNCONX will create a FILES.BBS that matches the contents of
FILESBBS.DAT in each file area. If a FILES.BBS already exists in
a particular file area, then it will be renamed to FILES.BAK.
UNCONX must be run from the directory where you keep your Opus
files database files (ie FILESBBS.ADX and FILESBBS.DAT). UNCONX
itself does not have to be located in that directory, provided it
is on your DOS path.
With no parameters UNCONX works on all areas. Otherwise you can
list the areas in which to create a FILES.BBS. For example:
UNCONX 1 2 3 4 Creates a FILES.BBS in file areas 1, 2, 3 and 4.
UNCONX USAGE AND SYNTAX (continued) 2
UNCONX 1 Creates a FILES.BBS in just file area 1.
UNCONX Creates a FILES.BBS in all file areas.
UNCONX will create FILES.BBS which include alternative download
paths, downloader counts and the names of uploaders.
A sample FILES.BBS line format is given below:

REVISION HISTORY
V1.00 -- 11 April 1993
-- added alternate download path, download counter and
uploader's name to FILES.BBS entries.
V1.01 -- 29 April 1993
-- fixed failure to free altpath and uploader pointers
which would result in out of memory error in some
circumstances.
V1.02 -- 12 September 1993
-- moved download count from end of line to just after
filename so that CONFILE will include download count
info when recreating the files database from the
individual FILES.BBS files.
BUGS/MITES/SUGGESTIONS
UNCONX has been extensively tested on the Sentry BBS and Sentry's
Shadow BBS with no apparent ill effects. Should you discover what
you suspect is a bug, or even just a mite, or have any
suggestions for the program feel free to:
a) send a netmail message to me at the Sentry BBS or Sentry's
Shadow BBS (FidoNet Addresses: 3:711/401 and 3:711/501);
b) call the Sentry BBS on (02) 428-4687 (PEP & V32 modem) or
Sentry's Shadow BBS (02) 418-6682 (V32bis modem) and leave me
a message;
c) write to me at P.O. Box 1605, Macquarie Centre,
New South Wales 2113, Australia.

LATEST VERSION
The latest version of UNCONX may always be Wazoo or Bark File
Requested from Sentry (3:711/401 - PEP & V32 modem) or Sentry's
Shadow (3:711/501 - V32bis modem) outside of the Zone 1 mail hour
and the Zone 3 mail hour (plus and minus 1.5 hours), or
downloaded by first time callers from Sentry or Sentry's Shadow.
File requests for the magic filename UNCONX will always result in
your obtaining the latest version.
