  2. ΓòÉΓòÉΓòÉ 1. Outbound Manager ΓòÉΓòÉΓòÉ
  3.  
  4. You are currently in the SOB outbound directory manager. The outbound directory 
  5. is where a mail tosser, such as Squish, places mail that is to be delivered to 
  6. other systems by a FidoNet<tm> such as BinkleyTerm. 
  7.  
  8. The list that is displayed, are the contents of your outbound directory and 
  9. contain the following columns: 
  10.  
  11. Address             This is the address the mail is to be sent to.  If a node 
  12.                     has more than one item, only the first item has the 
  13.                     address.  An address of N/A indicates that SOB could not 
  14.                     determine a correct address for the file. 
  15.  
  16. Type                This column indicates the type of file. See the file 
  17.                     descriptions below. 
  18.  
  19. Date                The date the file was last written to. 
  20.  
  21. Time                The time the file was last written to. 
  22.  
  23. File Name/Path      The filename and or complete path for the file.  The 
  24.                     complete path is used in FLO files and in Update Request 
  25.                     type request files. 
  26.  
  27. The file types are defined as follows: 
  28.  
  29. ArcMail   This is an archived mail file, and is sent as a file attach. This 
  30.           file contains compressed mail packets, typically echo mail. An 
  31.           ArcMail file is supposed to be included in a file attach file.  If an 
  32.           ArcMail file is orphaned SOB allows you to un-orphan the file by 
  33.           creating a new file attach file or add it to an existing file. After 
  34.           an ArcMail file is sent to the targeted system, it is truncated to a 
  35.           length of zero.  This indicates to mail processor that the file has 
  36.           been sent and not to add any new mail packets. 
  37.  
  38.           The file filtering in SOB allows you to eliminate truncated ArcMail 
  39.           files from the display. 
  40.  
  41. Fiat      This file contains a list of files to be sent to another system. 
  42.           Each file attach file, has it's list of files displayed immediatly 
  43.           after it.  If you do not wish to see these files, the file filtering 
  44.           in SOB will prevent these entries from being displayed. 
  45.  
  46.           A file attach file has a flavor (priority) that is described below. 
  47.  
  48. FileReq   This is a list of files, that your system is requesting from another. 
  49.           The files to be requested are listed immediatly following the file 
  50.           request entry. 
  51.  
  52.           If you do not wish to see these files, the file filtering in SOB will 
  53.           prevent these entries from being displayed. 
  54.  
  55. NoConnect This file contains the number of times your system attempted to 
  56.           connect to the target system.  This count is displayed after the file 
  57.           name in the file name column. 
  58.  
  59.           If you do not wish to see these files, the file filtering in SOB will 
  60.           prevent these entries from being displayed. 
  61.  
  62. NodeBusy  This indicate that either BinkleyTerm is connected to, or attempting 
  63.           a connection to the node, or that a mail processor such as Squish is 
  64.           packing mail for that node. 
  65.  
  66.           If you do not wish to see these files, the file filtering in SOB will 
  67.           prevent these entries from being displayed. 
  68.  
  69. Poll      This file is used to force a call to a remote node.  This file may 
  70.           also contain netmail messages that have not been added to an ArcMail 
  71.           bundle.  A Poll is also used to send a file request file. 
  72.  
  73. Tick      This file is produced by a file distribution processor, such as Tick. 
  74.  
  75. Other     These are files that do not fit any of the above descriptions. 
  76.  
  77.           If you do not wish to see these files, the file filtering in SOB will 
  78.           prevent these entries from being displayed. 
  79.  
  80. The Flavor or Priority for FLO and packet files are as follows: 
  81.

  85. Crash     Typically high priority mail that is sent immedialty. 
  86.  
  87. Direct    Same as Crash 
  88.  
  89. Hold      Mail is to be held until the target system calls your system or until 
  90.           you call the other system. 
  91.  
  92. Leave     Mail will never be sent. 
  93.  
  94. Normal    Sent "Normally" based on the mailer event setup. 
  95.  
  96. Mail processors create most of the entries in your outbound area. SOB's 
  97. outbound manager gives you the ability to easily maintain and manipulate your 
  98. outbound area.  You can generate Polls, request and send files, and delete old 
  99. or undeliverable mail.

  101. To manipulate any of these entries, select an entry by pressing enter on the 
  102. highlighted entry, or double click with the right mouse button and you will be 
  103. presented with an Actions Menu

  108. This menu presents the options that are available to you in using SOB:

  114. Exit      Terminating SOB

  116. About     A Brag dialog that seems to be present in all OS/2 PM applications.

  121. This option allow you to configure SOB with the information it needs to 
  122. operate.

  127. This option provides file filtering, to allow some flexability in controlling 
  128. what files are displayed in SOB's outbound window.

  133. This option will terminate SOB. Prior to exiting, the position and size of 
  134. SOB's window will be saved.  The next time SOB is started it will be at the 
  135. same location and will be the same size as the last time you used it.

  140. This is nothing more than a Brag item. The About selection typically tells who 
  141. the author is and displays copyright information.

  165. After an ArcMail bundle is sent, it is truncated to a length of zero.  The zero 
  166. length indicates to a mail tosser, such as Squish, the bundle has been sent and 
  167. not to add any additional mail packets to the bundle.

  172. This clean up option, deletes files that are listed with a type of Other

  174. Other files, are files that are in the outbound and are not recognized by a 
  175. mailer such as BinkleyTerm.

  180. This clean up option will delete from *.?LO files, any entries that can't be

  211. This Misc menu causes a rescan of the current outbound area, and a refresh of

  217. This Misc menu option will generate a POLL packet, which causes Binkley to call 
  218. another system.

  221. targeted system, or unless you wish to create a POLL with a higher priority 
  222. than current waiting mail targeted for the system to be polled.

  227. You have selected an item in the you outbound area.  This menu offers several 
  228. actions that can be performed on the selected item:

  230. Re-Address     This option allows you to re-address a Flow or Packet file. 
  231.  
  232. Change Flavor  Change the Flavor of a Flow or Packet file. 
  233.  
  234. Erase          Erase any file on the outbound display. 
  235.  
  236. Un-Orphan      Un-Orphan an ArcMail bundle.
