  20.         PAF is an extremely good, inexpensive way for genealogists to
  21.         organize their data. A utility program is included with PAF which
  22.         is used as an organizational tool. This program is entitled
  23.         Research Data Filer and allows the input of genealogical events
  24.         for a person. The events can be linked to related individuals and
  25.         can also be linked with an associated documentation file.

  27.         RDF can indeed help to organize a research effort. It is
  28.         especially helpful in identifying an ancestor from a list of
  29.         possible candidates.  However, despite it's usefulness, it has one
  30.         glaring weakness: it is essentially a dead end data base with only
  31.         printed output possible.  RDF2GED attempts to overcome this
  32.         problem by providing an outlet for RDF data to either a GEDCOM
  33.         file or to an ascii/comma delimited file.

  35.         RDF2GED reads PAF's RDF data and produces a GEDCOM file suitable
  36.         for reading into a genealogy system, a straight ASCII file, or a
  37.         comma delimited file. Information stored in RDF's files is
  38.         included in the GEDCOM file and information from an associated
  39.         RDF.DOC file can be included as notes, if desired. The GEDCOM file
  40.         is a series of one or two generation links which can then be
  41.         merged into multi-generation linkages with any genealogy program
  42.         supporting GEDCOM. The ASCII file is a series of 256 character
  43.         records which can be read into a word processing program and used
  44.         in a multitude of ways including printing. The comma delimited
  45.         file is a variable length file suitable for reading into a data
  46.         base or BASIC program.
