Read/Write: Updates output PAF database
PAF2PAF moves only individual records. All ties to other
individuals are deleted. The desired or required ties for the
transferred individual can easily be made from within PAF's FR.
The transferred individual is added to the end of your database in
the same fashion as GEDCOM adds records.
To view the added record within PAF, call the RIN one greater than
your previous last RIN or if that is not known, call a RIN which
you know is above any possible RIN you could have. PAF will then
report your RIN limits and then you can call the greatest RIN
reported.
PAF2PAF is very easy to use. It is faster and easier than using
GEDCOM procedures for transferring only a few RINs. There is no
requirement for MATCH/MERGE and its inherent record deletions.
You are prompted for all required inputs including location of
database, RIN, and whether you want to copy the notes as well.
Documentation includes helpful instructions on how you can load
two PAF databases at the same time and easily switch between them.
It also shows how you can exit to DOS from PAF and therefore run
PAF2PAF without exiting PAF's FR program.
Warning: Because PAF2PAF modifies your PAF database, make sure you
have a copy of the data files before running it. Then run FRCHK
to insure the database is good before deleting your old data
files.
