  18.         Because of many queries for a program to convert the names in the
  19.         PAF NAME2.DAT file to lower case, LOWCASE was written. There is no
  20.         error checking and the program could crash if it runs into bad
  21.         data in the NAME2.DAT file.  Be sure you are working on a BACKUP
  22.         copy of the NAME2.DAT file and check the modified file with FRCHK
  23.         before discarding your original NAME2.DAT file.

  25.         Some names may not be correctly converted.  MCDERMITT will be
  26.         converted as McDermitt.  MC DERMITT will be converted as Mc
  27.         Dermitt. MAC DERMITT will be converted as Mac Dermitt.   J.J.CHASE
  28.         will be converted as J.J.Chase.  JOHN HENRY, ESQ will be converted
  29.         as John Henry, Esq,  O'MALLEY will end up O'Malley, and JONES-BUCK
  30.         will end up Jones-Buck.   JOHN'S TAVERN will be converted as
  31.         John's Tavern.  You have three options for handling names starting
  32.         with MAC followed by at least three letters, such as MACKNIGHT:
  33.         always convert to lower case (Macknight); always convert to
  34.         upper/lower (MacKnight); and present each one for your selection.

  36.         Names in parenthesis or with a preceding question mark will be
  37.         converted as (WIDOW SMITH) to (Widow Smith) and ?WIDOW SMITH to
  38.         ?Widow Smith.  Roman Numerals in the title field or in a name
  39.         field, if separated from other data by a space, will be left in
  40.         upper case.  This will hold for those numerals up to XXXIX (39
  41.         arabic).  Therefore, a name like KING JAMES VII will be converted
  42.         as King James III.

  44.         The two letter upper case postal abbreviations for the U.S. states
  45.         will be maintained properly.  MA will remain MA,  N.Y. will remain
  46.         N.Y. and NY will remain NY.  LOWCASE also now handles the postal
  47.         abbreviations for Canada and other foreign countries.
