  19.         Generation Counter for Personal Ancestral File (PAF), GC4PAF, is
  20.         a program that will count how many generations of ancestors,
  21.         represented in a PAF database, an individual has.  In addition,
  22.         the number of ancestors in each generation will be displayed along
  23.         with the percent of total ancestors for each generation they
  24.         represent.  Generation Counter works  with the INDIV2.DAT,
  25.         MARR2.DAT, NAME2.DAT files.  Other files are not used.

  27.         The beginning individual is selected by RIN.  If the RIN is not
  28.         known, GC4PAF provides a search screen similar to that in PAF to
  29.         help locate the correct individual.  Once the individual is
  30.         located GC4PAF counts the generations.

  32.         GC4PAF only READS and does not write to PAF files.  There should
  33.         be no disruption of your PAF data files by GC4PAF.  However, it is
  34.         good practice to ALWAYS have a back-up of your data whenever you
  35.         use a new program and especially after you have added to or
  36.         changed any information in your database.

  38.         GC4PAF does create files in the PAF database directory of the form
  39.         GC0XX.LST, where XX represents the generation of ancestors, i.e.,
  40.         GC01.LST contains the RINs of the parents, GC02.LST contains the
  41.         RINS of the grandparents, GC03.LST the great-grandparents, etc. 
  42.         These files are deleted when GC4PAF is completed so you should
  43.         never see the files.
