│ GT 18.00 HELP SCREENS 1.0 │
└───────────────────────────┘
This archive contains a conglomerate of help screens compatible with GT
18.00. These screens generally give a more complete explanation of the
GT HOST commands that are available on the system than the default
screens that are shipped in the GT distribution archive. I have also
included a CBS version of all the screens. Please feel free to modify
these screens to suit your needs. In addition to the help screens, you
will find two versions of the GTHELP.BBS and GTHELP.CBS files. One is
called GTHELP.?BS and the other is GTEXTHLP.?BS. The GTEXTHLP version
is an extended help version of the GTHELP screens. I have also included
instructions and programs to create a GTHELP and GT Extended Help
facility on your BBS. If you prefer to use the Extended help screens
and your default help screens simply rename the GTEXTHLP.?BS files to
GTHELP.?BS. All the other help screens can be copied straight into the
appropriate directories on your system.

│ How To Create An GT EXTENDED Help System │
└──────────────────────────────────────────┘
Curent versions of GT allow you to run various programs directly from
the main menu. I have designed a method of using this facility to
generate an Extended Help system for GT, through a program I have
written named GTMORE (which I include in this archive). This facility
involves editing the SYSOP.BBS file as supplied by P&M software. In GT
18.00 you will find "MENU=" on line 219 of the SYSOP.BBS file. To add
the extended help function (EH from the main menu) you must change line
219 of the sysop.bbs to the following:
"MENU=[EH]GTEXTHLP.BAT;z"
This line will tell GT to execute the batch file GTEXTHLP.BAT (from the
GTPATH directory) anytime that EH is selected from the main menu.
Please note that the access level allowed to access this help facility
can be changed by changing the last letter in the line above. The
line above uses an access level of 'z', you can change this to suit your
application. After you make this change, simply copy the GTEXTHLP.BAT
file, as supplied, into your GTPATH directory, and copy change the
pathnames contained in the batch file as appropriate to point to the
path where you copied the GTEXTHLP.?BS files. Now anytime that someone
selects EH from the main menu the Extended Help, which is much more
detailed with be displayed. Don't forget to add EH to your main menu.

I cannot take credit for all the documentation that is contained within
this archive. This archive was created mostly from documentation that
was written by Perry Alexander and Douglas Pippel. Perry and Douglas
have both done excellent work in the past by distributing various help
screens they had created. I would like to thank Douglas Pippel for
allowing me to use the documentation he created in the GT Message Help
screens. I also want to thank Perry Alexander for allowing me to use
the documentation he created with his GT HELP screens that he donated to
the network. Both Doug and Perry were gracious enough to distribute
their work and therefore I want to distribute the mixture of screens
that I put together from what they had originally created.
If you find any errors on incompleteness in the help screens I have
provided please let me know so that I can correct them accordingly.
Enjoy the screens, and I hope you users find them helpful.
