CSRNET AREAFIX INSTRUCTIONS
===========================
Forward:
========
As soon as I have recieved your application, I will add you to the
nodelist. I will then attempt to send the new, updated nodelist to
your system. If you have not recieved the new nodelist within 3-4 days
after sending me your application, there was more then likely a problem and
I was unable to get it to your system. Feel free to drop me a line to
find out whats up or even give me a call voice.
Once you have the new nodelist with your entry in it, you will be
all set to turn on whatever NewsGroups you like out of the current
list being carried by CSRNET. As a default, I will set you up with an
AreaFix password of your first name, as provided in your application.
If you wish the password changed, just drop me a note and I will be
more then happy to oblidge.
Please be advised that on reciept of the new, updated nodelist, your
2 week free "GRACE PERIOD" will begin. Also, ALL polling ***MUST*** be
done with your /0 address and must be addressed to my 11:11/0 address.
Instructions:
=============
The AreaFix options being used by CSRNet are very SIMPLE and
STRAIGHT FORWARD. There are only 3 options available, and they are
all placed on the SUBJECT LINE of your Netmail AreaFix message, after
your password, as follows:
On the subject line of your netmail AreaFix request, place your
password followed by a space and any one or all of the following:
-L This will send you a file of all the available conferences
and there descriptions (The most up-to-date CSRNET.CON
file).
-Q This will send you a netmail message of the conferences you
are currently connected to as well as a listing of the
currently available conferences.
-R This will allow you to do a COMPLETE rescan of any new areas
that you may be turning on.
***WARNING*** I carry 500 messages per conference and if
you do a rescan, you will recieve 500 messages per conference
that you turn on.
After this, all you need to do to delete a conference is put a minus
sign in front of the conference name, in the body of your netmail
Areafix message. To turn a conference on, just put in the name of the
conference in the body of your netmail, AreaFix message.
Examples:
=========
A) Re: John
-----------------------------------------------------
P-MAIL
CSRNET_ADMIN
Ok, the above message, which would have been addressed to AreaFix
at 11:11/0, would have turned on the P-MAIL and CSRNET_ADMIN conferences.
B) Re: John -r
-----------------------------------------------------
P-MAIL
CSRNET_ADMIN
This AreaFix NetMail Message would do the exact same thing as
example "A" as well as rescanning the 2 new conferences, and when you
recieved your next package, you would recieve ALL the messages that I
have in those conferences. Which at this point in time is 500 messages
per conference.
C) Re: John -r -l -q
-----------------------------------------------------
P-MAIL
CSRNET_ADMIN
Now this AreaFix Message is using ALL available options. It would
add the 2 new conferences, rescan them for you to recieve mail im-
mediately, it will send you the CSRNET.CON file as well as send you
a message showing you what conferences you are currently recieving as
well as the rest of the conferences that are availble to you.
Thats it! Good luck and let me know if you need any assistance.
Cheers!
Tim
