  5. A MESSAGE FROM THE EDITOR:

  7. Thank you for purchasing QRZ!  If you want to use the callbook now,
  8. simply type QRZ at the command prompt.  QRZ requires no installation
  9. and will automatically find the correct disk drive and directory on
  10. your system whenever the QRZ! CD-ROM is in the drive.
  11.  
  12. The QRZ search and retrieval software has been designed especially for
  13. use with CD-ROM media.  Although most people will find that running the
  14. software directly from the CD-ROM is best for them, the software and
  15. database can be copied to a hard disk for even faster access. 
  16.  
  17. If you can compile programs written in the 'C' language , you may want
  18. to look in the \unix directory for the source code to a couple of very
  19. useful hard disk based versions of the program.  If you're a really
  20. good programmer you can probably create a better method.  If you end up
  21. developing a better UNIX or MSDOS search and retrieval program for any
  22. of the QRZ! datafiles, send it to us for review.  If accepted, it may
  23. make it onto the next edition of QRZ!

  25. If you have an amateur radio related datafile which others would enjoy
  26. or find useful then please consider contributing it towards the next
  27. edition of QRZ!

  44. software was designed to run on "generic" PC's running MSDOS.  If you're
  45. having trouble, make sure that your CD-ROM drive is working before you try
  46. the QRZ! CD-ROM.

  50. DATABASE ACCURACY
  51.  
  52. The US callsign data was supplied to us by the federal government.  We
  53. are unable to correct any mistakes that it may contain.  The only way
  54. to get the information corrected is to fill out a new FCC 610 form
  55. and send it in.  If your form reaches the FCC soon enough you should
  56. see the changes in a future edition of QRZ!

  60. LICENSE TO USE

  62. Ownership of this CD-ROM disc conveys a license to use a single copy of
  63. the QRZ! callsign database.  You may use the database directly from
  64. this CD-ROM or you may copy it to your hard disk and use it there.  You
  65. may not let others make or use copies of this database on their hard
  66. disks.  The QRZ! software and database may be used in callsign server
  67. applications on packet radio or on networks where users remotely login
  68. to your machine.  The information contained on this CD-ROM may not be
  69. used to create other CD-ROMS.

  77. Although you may own this disk, you do not own the programs recorded on
  78. it.  Many of the programs on this disk are shareware.  You are free to
  79. try each program for a limited amount of time.  If you are satisfied,
  80. and want to continue to use the program, you are required to register
  81. the program by sending a specified amount of money directly to the the
  82. author of the program.  In many cases the author will send you the most
  83. up to date version of the program and a printed manual.  Please check
  84. the individual files for specific information.
