  1. Monkeysoft ZappyLock Demo Version 3
  2.  
  3. NOTE: This demo version is intended to offer normal desktop password
  4. protection for 15 days.  The program will continue to work after the 15-day
  5. evaluation, though some visual aspects of the program will change.

  7. Installation Instructions
  8.  
  9.  1.) Download the demo and save it to your Windows
  10.      (or \Windows\system) directory (the demo is 249K and
  11.      takes about 1.5 minutes on a 28.8 connection) 
  12.  2.) Double-click on the file zldemo.exe - this is a 
  13.      self-extracting ZIP archive 
  14.  3.) Right-click on your Windows background and left-click "Properties"
  15.  4.) Click on the tab labeled "Screen Saver" 
  16.  5.) Click the arrow next to the drop-down box and scroll until
  17.      you see "ZappyLock Demo" - select "ZappyLock Demo" 
  18.  6.) Make sure the box next to "Password protected" has a
  19.      check in it and click "Change" (do this even if you were
  20.      using a password before or the program WILL NOT WORK PROPERLY) 
  21.  7.) Set your password and click "Ok" 
  22.  8.) Click settings and find the directory in which you have
  23.    images you'd like to display (NOTE: ZappyLock will only
  24.    read files from one directory, so place the files you'd like to
  25.    have displayed in a single directory and then select it) 
  26.  9.) Confirm your directory choice and then click "Apply" 
  27. 10.) Click "Ok" and enjoy your new-found desktop security!

  83. 5/28/97 Version 1.3
  84. 1. Fixed problem where if "Run on Windows Startup" was selected from
  85. config section, that option wouldn't take effect until screen saver
  86. ran.

  89. 1. Fixed major problem with systems using 256-color setting for Windows.
  90. Some images would encounter palette corruption and Zappylock would 
  91. display the picture with a poor palette.  Now palettes are being reset
  92. and all pictures show correctly in all color modes.
  93. 2. Fixed bug for handling of situation when the picture path/drive
  94. suddenly becomes inaccessible while Zappylock runs.
  95. 3. Better exception handling for invalid/corrupt JPEGs/GIFs/BMPs

  97. 7/22/97 Version 2.1
  98. 1. Added option to stretch pictures to maximum size
  99. 2. We now hide the Windows taskbar during Zappylock's reign...just
  100. in case.  Yes, it is restored when you prove you're the rightful user.

  102. 9/22/97 Version 3.0
  103. 1. New feature which will randomly select pictures from the specified
  104. directory.  Previously, they were simply displayed in the same order
  105. every time.
  106. 2. Added InstallShield, which enables use of a hotkey (Ctrl-Alt-Z) to
  107. invoke the screen saver on-demand (sorry, boss!).  ALso establishes a
  108. program group with icons for the screen saver and readme file.
  109. 3. Restored the mouse pointer while the password dialog is up, since
  110. feature #2 from version 2.1 will prevent auto-hide taskbars from 
  111. unnecessarily emerging anyway.
  112. 4. Fixed bug (bug?!) - Previously, when the password dialog was up, 
  113. and the user hit the "cancel" button, the password dialog would stay
  114. active.  Now, hitting the "cancel" button resumes scheduled Zappylock
  115. programming.
  116. 5. The nag screen is now even MORE annoying, as the "register me" stuff
  117. is blatantly displayed in the very middle of the screen.  Yuk.  Business
  118. is business.  (demo version only)

  120. 10/21/97 Version 3.1
  121. 1. Functionality added to suppress Windows "Autoplay".  This will prevent 
  122. a CD's software from being automatically run while the screen saver is up.
  123. 2. Resolved conflict involving the Microsoft Office Shortcut Bar, a "stay on top"
  124. toolbar similar to the Windows taskbar.

  127. 1. Reinstated removal of the mouse pointer when the password screen is operational.
  128. Problems involving accessing other toolbars (like Office, Smartsuite) made this 
  129. neccessary.
  130. 2. Modified resolution to dealing with Office toolbar by also trying to hide it
  131. when the password dialog comes up.  This helps resolve problems where the toolbar
  132. still appeared if the "run on Windows startup" option was chosen for Zappylock.

  135. 1. Fixed strange bug which wouldn't allow certain GIFs and BMPs to load properly.
