  3. LOCALITY: North America (Alberta)
  4. SIZE: 11 ft 6 in/3.5 m long

  6. All ornithomimids had long, slender legs,
  7. with the shin bone (tibia) about 20 percent
  8. longer than the thigh bone (femur)--a sure
  9. sign of a sprinter. Dromiceiomimus had even
  10. longer shins than average, which indicates
  11. that it was a very fast runner indeed.The
  12. size of the brain cavity and eye sockets in
  13. the skull of Dromiceiomimus shows that it had
  14. an exceptionally large brain (proportionally
  15. larger than that of a modern ostrich), and
  16. huge eyes (proportionally larger than those
  17. of any modern land animal). So, like modern
  18. nocturnal or night-hunting creatures,
  19. Dromiceiomimus most probably hunted after
  20. dark, chasing small mammals and lizards
  21. through the gathering gloom of the deciduous
  22. woods in which it lived.
