In a computer-controlled robot, a device used
to give the robot a sense of touch, allowing
it to manipulate delicate objects or move
automatically about a room. Touch sensors
provide the feedback necessary for the robot
to adjust the force of its movements and the
pressure of its grip. The main types include
the strain gauge and the microswitch.
