Method of natural contraception that works by
avoiding intercourse when the woman is
producing egg cells (ovulating). The time of
ovulation can be worked out by the calendar
(counting days from the last period), by
temperature changes, or by inspection of the
cervical mucus. All these methods are
unreliable because it is possible for
ovulation to occur at any stage of the
menstrual cycle.
