  3. Louis Renault (1877-1944) formed the company
  4. with his brothers Fernand and Marcel. In 1899
  5. they began automobile racing, which boosted
  6. the sales of their automobiles, and by 1908
  7. they were producing 5,000 automobiles a year.
  8. The company produced tanks for the French
  9. army in both world wars.
