  2. that often involves the worship of a God or 
  3. gods. Belief in a supernatural power is not 
  4. essential (absent in, for example, Buddhism 
  5. and Confucianism), but faithful adherence is 
  6. usually considered to be rewarded, eg: by 
  7. escape from human existence (Buddhism), by a 
  8. future existence (Christianity, Islam), or by
