PAGE.DOC
--------
Machination are a small company who specialise in
producing bespoke software systems for small
businesses. FRAMED is our first venture into the
leisure market and we hope to bring you many more
enjoyable games at very affordable prices.
FRAMED was created using a system we have developed
called PAGE (Platform Adventure Game Engine). Not
a single line of code was used to create the
specifics of the game you are currently playing!
Currently PAGE is being updated to produce 256
colour games and support the latest sound card
hardware. We also intend to add support for other
types of game such as vertically scrolling 'shoot
'em ups'.
Machination intend to provide the opportunity for
registered users of FRAMED to also get into the
games development business by offering to sell the
updated version of PAGE.
PAGE is essentially comprised of the following
powerful programs:
1) Sprite Editor: A mouse driven sprite drawing
tool which is used to create all the graphical
objects within the game. These include background
tiles, objects and characters. It also includes a
host of features such as fills, injects, block
manipulation etc. to make drawing as quick and easy
as possible.
2) Graphics Grabber: Allows graphics to be captured
from virtually any other program and saved in a
format readable by the Sprite Editor.
3) Map Maker: The program at the heart of PAGE,
this is a full WYSIWYG world designer. Simply drop
your background tiles into variable sized grids to
setup each location. Then define the attributes of
each tile, whether you can walk through it, climb
it, etc.
Setup your objects by giving them descriptions and
characteristics, then drop them onto the grid.
Layout the paths of all moving objects within your
game and define what happens when they meet other
objects and characters.
Define the points in the game where music and sound
effects occur.
Finally use the powerful, flexible, yet simple
built in script language to add special effects and
bring all these elements to life.
4) PAGE also contains a host of utilities for
copying and converting the elements you have
designed between the different programs and files
PAGE consists of.
You can create games with PAGE quickly and easily
and of a size only limited by disk space. All
without knowing how to write so much as a line of
BASIC! However, for those of you who can program we
intend to include the C source code to the basi
game engines.
You will able to market any games produced with
PAGE without the need to pay any royalties to
Machination. We will also offer to publish any that
you send to us that are sufficiently high quality.
We intend to offer the whole package for less than
forty UK pounds. (60 US Dollars). If you are
interested please indicate this on the registration
form when you register FRAMED. If there is
sufficient interest we will send you full details
when the current work on PAGE is completed.
