  1. Muddle Blowfish CFB8 File Encryption
  2.  
  3. This utility is designed to work with Windows 95, 98 and NT 4.0.
  4.  
  5. In its free form, Muddle allows a user to encrypt and decrypt any
  6. size file using the Blowfish algorithm and any key, with all key 
  7. lengths between 32 bits and 448 bits supported.
  8.  
  9. There is no need to worry about installing the application. It can
  10. be run anywhere, and if you don't like it enough to keep it, you
  11. can just delete it. Muddle makes no modifications to your system
  12. registry.
  13.  
  14. Muddle is a simple dialogue based application. A user must choose
  15. a file to encrypt, along with a key file (any file may serve as a 
  16. key file, as long as it is long enough to provide enough bytes to
  17. satisfy the chosen key length.

  19. The name of the original file, along with the key filename and 
  20. the key length are stored in the encrypted file. So, if the file is
  21. decrypted on the original machine, or a machine with the same directory
  22. structure, there is no need to specify anything apart from the
  23. name of the encrypted file.

  25. If a file is decrypted on another PC, then a key file name can be
  26. specified, and will be used if the "Use chosen key" check box is
  27. checked.

  29. Obviously, if you send an encrypted file to someone else, they will
  30. also need the key that was used to encrypt it in order to be able
  31. to decrypt it. Key distribution is beyond the scope of the free
  32. version of this product.
