  2. Welcome to the Creative Review CD-Rom

  5. This Read Me is designed to help you to get optimum results from this CD-
  6. Rom. If after reading this you still have any problems installing or
  7. running the CD-rom, then  call the Williams Technical Support number
  8. on +44 (0)171 250 0917.

  10. The CD-Rom will run best if you close down any other applications which you 
  11. may have open. This will automatically give you the maximum RAM available 
  12. in your machine.  The more applications which you leave open, the slower 
  13. this CD-Rom will run.

  16. OVERVIEW

  19. The CD-rom comes free  with Creative Review magazine for all subscribers. It 
  20. is designed to be complementary to the written word in bringing you the latest 
  21. creative work in moving pictures - video, audio and graphics in a multimedia 
  22. format.  
  23.  
  24. We hope that you enjoy this product and we are keen to hear your views.  For 
  25. problems in using the CD-Rom call the helplne number above, but with other

  31. MINIMUM SYSTEM CONFIGURATION

  34. We have created this product to run on a system with the following minimum 
  35. specification:

  37. IBM or compatible 486 DX2/66 processor
  38. 8Mb RAM
  39. 14 inch colour monitor (standard 14 inch Apple colour monitor) 
  40. Double speed CD-Rom drive
  41. Windows 95
  42. QuickTime for Windows 2.1.1
  43. Video Card (Please see below)
  44. Sound Blaster card (Please see below)

  46. Preferred specification:
  47. Pentium P75 or higher
  48. 16Mb RAM
  49. Quad speed CD-Rom drive

  51. Please note: The CD-Rom will play on Windows 3.1/Windows for Workgroups but
  52. some work will not display properly since these operating systems do not 
  53. cater for 16 bit images within the application.

  55. This product needs all the above items to run.  You need QuickTime 2.1 or 
  56. later to run the Creative Review CD-Rom. 
  57.  
  58. If you do not have QuickTime for Windows 2.11 already installed on your system
  59. then the setup programe will install it at your request. (Please refer to the
  60. Apple licence information included in the Legal Read Me section for usage
  61. limitations). The software loaded is Windows system software, and will not
  62. conflict with any other Windows standard software.  
  63.  
  64. The movies on this disc will run at optimum quality if you view this product on 
  65. a 16-bit display - a monitor running in thousands of colours.  The Creative 
  66. Review CD-Rom will run on an 8-bit monitor, but will look better with 
  67. thousands of colours.

  124. To set up, select Start/File menu and choose Run. Use the Browse to locate the
  125. CD-Rom and select setup.exe then click OK.
  126.  
  127. Now follow on screen instructions to complete the installation. The programme will
  128. install a programme group so that this CD-Rom and subsequent issues can be accesed
  129. from the main Programme Manager. This installation need only be activated when
  130. you view your first disc.

  192. Software and fonts. You may also transfer all your licence rights in the

  205. 3. Termination. This Licence is effective until terminated. You may terminate 
  206. this Licence at any time by destroying the Software, related documentation

  208. without notice from Centaur Communications Limited if you fail to comply with 
  209. any provision of this Licence. Upon termination you must destroy the 
  210. Software, related documentation and fonts and all copies thereof.

  212. 4. Export Law Assurances. You agree and certify that neither the Software 
  213. nor any other technical data received from Centaur Communications Limited, 
  214. nor the direct product thereof, will be exported outside the United States 
  215. except as authorised and as permitted by the laws and regulations of the 
  216. United States. If the Software has been rightfully obtained by you outside of 
  217. the United States, you agree that you will not re-export the Software nor any 
  218. other technical data received from Centaur Communications Limited, nor the 
  219. direct product thereof, except as permitted by the laws and regulations of the 
  220. United States and the laws and regulations of the jurisdiction in which you 
  221. obtained the Software.

  223. 5. Government End Users. If you are acquiring the Software and fonts on 
  224. behalf of any unit or agency of the United States Government, the following 
  225. provisions apply. The Government agrees:
  226. 1) if the Software and fonts are supplied to the Department of Defence (DoD), 
  227. the Software and fonts are classified as "Commercial Computer Software" 
  228. and the Government is acquiring only "restricted rights" in the Software, its 
  229. documentation and fonts as that term is defined in Clause 252.227-7013(c)(1) 
  230. of the DFARS; and
  231. 2) if the Software and fonts are supplied to any unit or agency of the United 
  232. States Government other than DoD, the Government's rights in the Software, 
  233. its documentation and fonts will be as defined in Clause 52.227-19(c)(2) of 
  234. the FAR or, in the case of NASA, in Clause 18-52.227-86(d) of the NASA 
  235. Supplement to the FAR.

  237. 6. Limited Warranty on Media. Centaur Comunications Limited warrants the 
  238. diskettes and/or compact disc on which the Software and fonts are recorded 
  239. to be free from defects in materials and workmanship under normal use for a 
  240. period of ninety (90) days from the date of purchase as evidenced by a copy 
  241. of the receipt. Centaur Communications Limited's entire liability and your 
  242. exclusive remedy will be replacement of the diskettes and/or compact disc not 
  243. meeting Centaur Communications Limited's limited warranty and which is 
  244. returned to Centaur Communications Limited or an Centaur Communications 
  245. Limited authorised representative with a copy of the receipt. Centaur 
  246. Communications Limited will have no responsibility to replace a disk/disc 
  247. damaged by accident, abuse or misapplication. ANY IMPLIED WARRANTIES 
  248. ON THE DISKETTES AND/OR COMPACT DISC, INCLUDING THE IMPLIED 
  249. WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY AND FITNESS FOR A 
  250. PARTICULAR PURPOSE, ARE LIMITED IN DURATION TO NINETY (90) 
  251. DAYS FROM THE DATE OF DELIVERY. THIS WARRANTY GIVES YOU

  259. Communications Limited's Licensors (for the purpose of provisions 7 and 8, 
  260. Centaur Communications Limited and Centaur Communications Limited's 
  261. Licensors shall be collectively referred to as Centaur Communications 
  262. Limited) EXPRESSLY DISCLAIM ALL WARRANTIES, EXPRESS OR 
  263. IMPLIED, INCLUDING, BUT NOT LIMITED TO, THE IMPLIED 
  264. WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY AND FITNESS FOR A 
  265. PARTICULAR PURPOSE. CENTAUR COMMUNICATIONS LIMITED DOES 
  266. NOT WARRANT THAT THE FUNCTIONS CONTAINED IN THE SOFTWARE 
  267. WILL MEET YOUR REQUIREMENTS, OR THAT THE OPERATION OF THE 
  268. SOFTWARE WILL BE UNINTERRUPTED OR ERROR-FREE, OR THAT 
  269. DEFECTS IN THE SOFTWARE AND THE FONTS WILL BE CORRECTED.

  271. WARRANT OR MAKE ANY REPRESENTATIONS REGARDING THE USE

  273. RELATED DOCUMENTATION IN TERMS OF THEIR CORRECTNESS, 
  274. ACCURACY, RELIABILITY, OR OTHERWISE. NO ORAL OR WRITTEN 
  275. INFORMATION OR ADVICE GIVEN BY CENTAUR COMMUNICATIONS 
  276. LIMITED OR A CENTAUR COMMUNICATIONS LIMITED AUTHORIZED 
  277. REPRESENTATIVE SHALL CREATE A WARRANTY OR IN ANY WAY 
  278. INCREASE THE SCOPE OF THIS WARRANTY. SHOULD THE SOFTWARE

  286. 8. Limitation of Liability. UNDER NO CIRCUMSTANCES INCLUDING

  288. FOR ANY INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL OR CONSEQUENTIAL DAMAGES THAT 
  289. RESULT FROM THE USE OR INABILITY TO USE THE SOFTWARE OR 
  290. RELATED DOCUMENTATION, EVEN IF CENTAUR COMMUNICATIONS 
  291. LIMITED OR A CENTAUR COMMUNICATIONS LIMITED AUTHORISED 
  292. REPRESENTATIVE HAS BEEN ADVISED OF THE POSSIBILITY OF SUCH

  302. 9. Controlling Law and Severability.  This Licence shall be governed by and 
  303. construed in accordance with the laws of the United States and the State of 
  304. California, as applied to agreements entered into and to be performed entirely 
  305. within California between California residents. If for any reason a court of 
  306. competent jurisdiction finds any provision of this Licence, or portion thereof, 
  307. to be unenforceable, that provision of the Licence shall be enforced to the 
  308. maximum extent permissible so as to effect the intent of the parties, and the 
  309. remainder of this Licence shall continue in full force and effect.

  311. 10. Complete Agreement. This Licence constitutes the entire agreement 
  312. between the parties with respect to the use of the Software, the related 
  313. documentation and fonts, and supercedes all prior or contemporaneous 
  314. understandings or agreements, written or oral, regarding such subject matter. 
  315. No amendment to or modification of this Licence will be binding unless in 
  316. writing and signed by a duly authorised representative of Centaur 
  317. Communications Limited.
