Description:
Lil' Picasso is a coloring and creativity package for
children. Your children will spend hours coloring the lovely
pre-drawn pictures with a paintbrush of over 300 colors and
patterns. Children can also choose from a variety of drawing
tools to create their own masterpieces.
Requirements:
DOS 3.0 or greater, hard disk drive, VGA graphics card, and a
mouse.
How to:
The program is fairly simply to navigate and use. Use the
left mouse button on your mouse to select a button or color.
The "SAVE" button will save any current artwork in the drawing
area to disk. The "LOAD" button will retrieve the previous
"SAVEd" drawing. The "NEW" button will randomly retrieve one
of the many pre-drawn pictures.
Printing:
There is no "click button" for printing. Not to fear,
however! You can print your child's artwork to your printer by
pressing the ALT+P keys. For those who are unfamiliar with
hot-keys, ALT+P is activated by pressing the [ALT] key on your
keyboard, and WHILE STILL HOLDING IT DOWN, press the [P] key.
After you tap the [P] key, release both keys. At this point a
pop-up menu will appear from which to choose a printer model.
We have tried to support the most popular printer series on the
market. The listing should cover 90% of the printers currently
being used. If you do not see your printer series listed,
select the next closest printer. For instance, if you own a
Star Micronics 9-pin dot matrix printer, select the Epson 9-pin
dot matrix printer. If you own a Brother 24-pin dot matrix,
select one of the other 24-pin dot matrix printers. If you
have a laser printer, select the LaserJet series printer. If
none of the printers listed work for you, please leave the
author an e-mail message on The Mustard Seed BBS at (540)
372-9680 informing us of your printer model. We will try to
provide a specific printer driver file for your printer.
You might ask why no printer "click button" was provided in the
program interface? We thought it best for Mom and Dad to be
the ones who initiate all printouts. Your own Lil' Picasso
may be too little to understand the complexities of turning the
printer on, selecting a printer, inserting paper, etc. so we
felt it best to hide the print feature from them. If your
little one is old enough, then ALT+P should not be too
difficult for them to learn. Let us know your thoughts on this
matter.
If your printer is connected to a parallel port other than
LPT1:, then you can specify on the DOS command line the
appropriate parallel port. For instance, to specify that your
printer is connected to LPT2:, start the program from the
DOS prompt --> LILPIC LPT2: press [ENTER]
Problems:
If you have any questions about Lil' Picasso, and you have not
yet registered, please enclose a self-addressed stamped
envelope to insure a speedy reply. Please do NOT send us
defective disks unless you obtained the program directly from
the author. At the DOS prompt type "CHKDSK" and if you find
any bad sectors or lost clusters or file allocation errors,
contact the SOURCE from which you purchased the disk. Lil'
Picasso was released after extensive testing, and if you have
any problems, most likely it will be a result of damaged or
missing files during the copying process from your vendor or a
pinched floppy sleeve during mailing.
Most problems that you will encounter will probably be related
to your printer. Make sure that your printer is ON and on-line
before attempting to print. Common printers include failing
to insert paper into the printer, or running out of paper
before the print job is complete. The latter problem is most
prevalent with dot-matrix printers that are NOT using tractor
feed paper. If you are using cut sheet paper with a dot matrix
printer, and you encounter an error towards the end of the
print job, you are probably running out of area for the printer
to print in. To correct this problem, back the top of the
sheet off a half-inch or so next time, so that the print job
will start higher up and hopefully not run out of print area
prematurely. Another solution is to choose a different printer
from the print menu (it's OK to choose Epson 24 pin if you have
a Panasonic 24 pin).
Shareware:
Lil' Picassso is distributed as shareware software. Shareware
is a "try before you buy" software marketing concept that
allows the user to obtain fully functional copies of programs
for evaluation. The distribution and copying fee that you may
have paid to obtain this disk does not cover the cost of the
software contained on this disk. Shareware programs such as
the one that you have obtained require separate payment to the
author if it is found to be a useful product and if it is used
beyond a reasonable evaluation period.
Distribution:
Lil' Picasso is copyrighted software that is being offered
to the user under the shareware concept - i.e., "try before you
buy". LIL' PICASSO IS NOT FREE SOFTWARE. If the user
finds that this program is useful, then they are LEGALLY
OBLIGATED to register their copy with the author. Users are
permitted to make copies of the shareware EVALUATION disk and
pass them on. Shareware and public domain distributors may
also distribute this disk ONLY IF ALL of the following
conditions are met:
1) No changes or alterations are to be made to Lil' Picasso.
This includes all program related data files on this disk
(including this documentation).
2) No one may sell an evaluation copy of Lil' Picasso for more
than U.S. $5.00.
3) Shareware vendors must contact the program author
before making this program available to the public IF THE FILE
DATE STAMP ON PICASSO.EXE IS OLDER THAN 2 YEARS. We simply
want to insure that you have the latest version of the
program. Please contact the author/sysop with a
self-addressed stamped envelope or e-mail message on The
Mustard Seed BBS (540) 372-9680 in such cases.
4) CD-ROM shareware publishers are permitted to include Lil'
Picasso on a shareware collection ONLY IF the PICASSO.EXE file
is date stamped less than 2 years old.
