INSTRUCTIONS:
THIS IS WHAT THE WORLD HAS BEEN WAITING FOR, A PROGRAM FOR PLAYING OLD
MAID WITH A PC!
TO PLAY OLD MAID, YOU THROW ONE QUEEN OUT OF THE DECK AND THEN DEAL THE
REST TO THE TWO PLAYERS (ONE GETS 26 CARDS AND THE OTHER GETS 25).
THE CARDS ARE DEALT FACE UP.
THE TWO PLAYERS THEN PICK OUT ALL PAIRS IN THEIR HANDS AND DISCARD THEM.
ONE OF THE PLAYERS WILL HAVE A QUEEN AND THE OTHER WON'T.
THE ONE WHO DOESN'T HAVE THE QUEEN GOES FIRST.
THE TWO HANDS ARE NOW TURNED OVER SO THE OTHER PLAYER CAN'T SEE.
THE PLAYER WHOSE TURN IT IS THEN DRAWS ONE CARD FROM THE OTHER'S HAND,
AND DISCARDS IT WITH ITS MATE IF IT MAKES A PAIR WITH ONE OF THE CARDS
FROM HIS HAND. IT IS NOW THE OTHER PLAYER'S TURN.
THE PLAY CONTINUES UNTIL ONE PLAYER IS LEFT WITH THE QUEEN AND BECOMES
THE OLD MAID.
IN TOMMY'S OLD MAID, THE COMPUTER'S HAND IS ALWAYS DISPLAYED IN THE TOP
TWO ROWS OF THE SCREEN, AND THE HUMAN PLAYER'S HAND IN THE BOTTOM TWO ROWS.
SINCE THE PAIRING AND DISCARDING IS AUTOMATIC, THE PLAYER'S OWN HAND IS
LEFT FACE DOWN.
