  2.                        Your Registered User Data Base

  4.   A few things to cover before you dive into the program.
  5.  
  6.   This should be a authenticated ZIP format. If not, then its possible
  7.   that you have not received the original archive released. Some BBS
  8.   SysOps do change the archive format when the file is placed on their
  9.   BBS. To confirm that you have received all the files originally
  10.   packaged, a file list is shown below, generated by
  11.   PKUNZIP -v itrak10

  43.   System Requirements:

  45.      Config.Sys    Files=30   Buffers=20
  46.      These are the standard suggested values for data base programs.
  47.      If you are using a disk-cache the buffer value may be lowered.
  48.  
  49.   1. Hard Disk:
  50.      To get started we reccomend 1 meg of hard drive space. The program
  51.      with all docs etc occupies about 3-400k of disk space. Another 3-400k
  52.      of space is required when the program swaps to disk for running DOS
  53.      commands from within the program. Some files may be deleted, see
  54.      below. Also, as your data files grow, they will require more room.
  55.  
  56.      The program can be run from a floppy, but is much more efficient
  57.      from a hard disk. This will be discussed further.

  65.   2. Memory:   User Base 2.0 requires 400k of available memory to run
  66.      correctly. 500k or better is strongly advised, to get optimum use
  67.      from the program. A 640k memory system is highly reccomended!
  68.  
  69.   3. DOS Ver:  User Base 2.0 was originally designed with Dos 3.3, but
  70.      should run well with any 3.x version. Runs under 4.0 and 5.0 also.
  71.      I have never tested with versions earlier than 3.3, if you do run
  72.      it under earlier versions, or if you have trouble with earlier
  73.      versions, I'd like to know about it.

  75.   4. Video: Will run under MONO, CGA, EGA, VGA. User Base 2.0 will
  76.      automatically recognize the video. If you're running mono, you're
  77.      gonna miss some of the great color benifits.
  78.  
  79.   5. Printer: A printer is required to obtain Printed Reports.
  80.      The program allows printing to a file, for later printing.
  81.  
  82.   To Install:
  83.  
  84.      Make a directory on your Hard drive ie: \UBASE then place the
  85.      UBASE20.ZIP in that directory and unpack it, PKUZIP UBASE20
  86.      If you do not have a copy of PKUNZIP, you should be able to obtain
  87.      it from the BBS where you downloaded the file.
  88.  
  89.      RRUN.EXE may be placed in another directory, that is in your
  90.      PATH statement. But UB.COM needs to reside in the same
  91.      directory as the program files.
  92.  
  93.      Once the program has been unzipped, you can view or print the
  94.      documentation one of two ways.
  95.  
  96.      From the DOS prompt: type VIEWDOC to read the manual in a scrolling
  97.      window.  To print, enter either: Copy UB20.DOC prn - or -
  98.      type UB20.DOC>prn -or- use the supplied PRNDOC.COM to print it.

  100.      Or for REAL fun......
  101.      Type UB to start User Base 2.0, Press F10 from the Main Menu, then
  102.      F9 for Command Descriptions, and make your choice.

  106.      Files Required:

  108.      The following files ARE required to run User Base 2.0.
  109.  
  110.      *.DAT           The data files.
  111.      *.K##           #= a digit; the index files
  112.      *.MEM           The Memo files
  113.        These are sample files provided for you to become familiar with the
  114.        program. Run NEWSTART.COM before you enter the information
  115.        you wish to keep.

  117.      RRUN.EXE        The Runtime Engine: May be in another directory
  118.                      thats listed in your PATH statement.
  119.        UB20S.RUN     The Program Module: In Program Directory
  120.           UB.COM     Runs the Program. Must be in Program Directory

  128.      Files For Deletion:

  130.      The following files can be deleted, we reccomend that you do not do
  131.      so right away. Please read the manual before you do delete them.

  146.      Running From Floppy:
  147.  
  148.      User Base 2.0 can be run from a floppy, 360k will work. You will
  149.      need the files listed on the previous page under required files.
  150.      Two things to remember, the data files you create along with the
  151.      index files will reside on the same disk, in the same directory. As
  152.      the required program files use up almost 200k, this leaves little
  153.      room for data and index files. A 1.2 floppy would be best.
  154.

  157.       Many users have requested having thier Name and Registration number
  158.       shown on the screen, for extra security and proof of ownership.
  159.       Rather than make this an item that you need to order seperatly as
  160.       program customization, you can now do this when you register. There is
  161.       a place on the Registration form for this. The charge is $6.00, and
  162.       is less than it would be as an after receipt customization.
  163.       I feel the charge is quite reasonable, it takes a minimum of 1 hr to
  164.       code it and recompile the module.
  165.       Your name and registration number will show on the Main Screen just
  166.       under the Title Bar.

  168.      While User Base 2.0 is very easy to use, it is strongly
  169.      reccomended that you read the manual, its only about 12 pages long,
  170.      and it will make learning the program even easier.
