- What is SL_XPIRE?
- =-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=
-
- A simple utility which displays to the user the DATE their account
- will expire, amongst other things.
-
-
- =-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-
- How to setup SL_XPIRE:
- =-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-
-
- First, edit the SL_XPIRE.MES file to suit your liking. You may also wish
- to create a different file for each access level. In that case, name
- the file SL_XPIRE.### where the ### stands for the access level. For
- example, if my NORMAL USER level on my bbs was 30, and I wanted to create
- custome level 30 file, I would name it SL_XPIRE.30
- Please make sure you keep the files 7 lines or less, as the message will
- scroll off the screen if you add too many lines of text. Each line must
- also be less than 80 characters.
-
- To actually run SL_XPIRE, all you have to do is put it in the
- auto login door or an auto login BATCH file.
-
- SL_XPIRE requires only ONE NECESSARY parameter:
-
- Parameter #1: %G - Users Graphics Mode
-
- Parameter #2: Path to SL_XPIRE files if not run in dir where
- SL_XPIRE.* files are located (OPTIONAL)
- YOU *MUST* use the path if you run SL_XPIRE
- on a different node, since SL_XPIRE is
- always run from the NODE directory.
-
-
- Example:
- --------
-
-
- SL_XPIRE %G -- Runs SL_XPIRE in whatever graphic mode the user
- can handle.
-
-
- On a MULTI-NODE system, you always run SL_XPIRE from the NODE's
- directory specifying the PATH to the SL_XPIRE files as the second
- parameter (see above). It's also possible to create custom
- Access Level Message files for each node by placing different
- .MES, .### in each node's directory. In this case, you *DO NOT*
- specify a path to the SL_XPIRE files as the reside in the current
- node's directory. I HIGHLY recommend placing SL_XPIRE in the
- MAIN BBS directory and not in a dir by itself. IF you choose the
- latter *MAKE SURE* you have that dir in your DOS path statement.
-
-
- That's it!
-
-
- =-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-
- SL_XPIRE Output:
- =-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-
-
- SL_XPIRE will, in general, output a DATE for the Expiration. However,
- in the case where the Sysop has defined 0-00-00 as the Expiry date,
- SL_XPIRE will simply output "No Expiration Date Set."

- A Word About 3rd Party-ware:
- =-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-
-
- Over the last couple of years, I have noticed more and more authors
- DEMANDING payment for programs they create. While I understand the work put
- into these BBS 'helpers' I am distressed by the fact that BBS operators
- should have to CONTINUOUSLY and NEVER-ENDINGLY pay for these utilities.
- That's why I choose to write FREEWARE. I support the idea of a bbs, where
- utilities and programs are shared. Bbs operators are an amateur group
- of hobbyists and I don't believe a BBS operator should have to continuously
- pay for a hobby he/she already pays enough for. The BBS operator is a fine
- species..One who allows people he/she doesn't even know to gain access to
- their system, out of the goodness of his/her heart. I ask all you authors
- who are so valuable to the Searchlight community to join me in providing
- all our fellow SL sysops with quality FREEWARE. Donate some of your time
- and expertise to the cause...It'll make the BBS community a much better
- place!
