  4.   A few things to cover before you dive into the program.
  5.  
  6.   This should be a authenticated ZIP format. If not, then its possible
  7.   that you have not received the original archive released. Some BBS
  8.   SysOps do change the archive format when the file is placed on their
  9.   BBS. To confirm that you have received all the files originally
  10.   packaged, a file list is shown below, generated by
  11.   PKUNZIP -v itrak10

  45.   System Requirements:
  46.  
  47.   1. Hard Disk:
  48.      To get started we reccomend 1 meg of hard drive space. The program
  49.      with all docs etc occupies about 310k of disk space. Another 3-400k
  50.      of space is required when the program swaps to disk for running DOS
  51.      commands from within the program. Some files may be deleted, see
  52.      below. Also, as your data files grow, they will require more room.
  53.  
  54.      The program can be run from a floppy, but is much more efficient
  55.      from a hard disk. This will be discussed further.

  63.   2. Memory:   ChecTrak 1.0 requires 400k of available memory to run
  64.      correctly. 500k or better is strongly advised, to get optimum use
  65.      from the program. A 640k system is strongly reccomended.
  66.  
  67.   3. DOS Ver.  ChecTrak 1.0 was originally designed with Dos 3.3, but
  68.      should run well with any 3.x version. Runs under 4.0 and 5.0 also.
  69.      I have never tested with versions earlier than 3.3, if you do run
  70.      it under earlier versions, or if you have trouble with earlier
  71.      versions, I'd like to know about it.

  73.   4. Video: Will run under MONO, CGA, EGA, VGA. ChecTrak 1.0 will
  74.      automatically recognize the video. If you're running mono, you're
  75.      gonna miss some of the great color benifits.
  76.  
  77.   5. Printer: A printer is required for the Shareware version to obtain
  78.      printed reports. The registered version allows printing to a file,
  79.      for later printing.

  81.   6. Your Config.Sys file should containe the following:
  82.      Files=30
  83.      Buffers=20
  84.      These are the suggested minimum for database programs. If you are
  85.      using a Disk Cache you can lower the buffer statement.
  86.      Higher figures for files & buffers use more system memory, but
  87.      provide for better and faster program execution.
  88.  
  89.   To Install:
  90.  
  91.      Make a directory on your Hard drive ie: \CTRAK then place the
  92.      CTRAK10.ZIP in that directory and unpack it, PKUZIP CTRAK10
  93.      If you do not have a copy of PKUNZIP, you should be able to obtain
  94.      it from the BBS where you downloaded the file.
  95.  
  96.      RRUN.EXE may be placed in another directory, that is in your
  97.      PATH statement. But CT.COM needs to reside in the same
  98.      directory as the program files.
  99.  
  100.      Once the program has been unzipped, you can view or print the
  101.      documentation one of two ways.
  102.  
  103.      From the DOS prompt: type VIEWDOC to read the manual in a scrolling
  104.      window.  To print, enter either: copy CTRAK10.DOC prn - or -
  105.      type CTRAK10.DOC>prn
  106.  
  107.      OR type CT to start ChecTrak 1.0, press F10  from the
  108.      Main Menu. There will be choices to view and print the Manual
  109.      from the Menu.

  112.      Files Required:
  113.  
  114.      The following files ARE required to run ChecTrak 1.0.
  115.      These are sample entries for you to use with the Shareware
  116.      version. Use Newstart.Com before you enter in your records.
  117.      *.DAT           The data files.
  118.      *.K##           #= a digit; the index files
  119.      *.MEM           The Memo files
  120.      RRUN.EXE        The Runtime Engine: May be in another directory
  121.                      thats listed in your PATH statement.
  122.     CTRAK10S.RUN     The Program Module
  123.           CT.COM     Runs the Program. Must be in Program Directory

  131.      Files For Deletion:

  133.      The following files can be deleted, we reccomend that you do not do
  134.      so right away. Please read the manual before you do delete them.

  143.                         Memo files, ChecTrak will generate new/empty files
  144.                         on next startup, for your use.

  151.      Running From Floppy:
  152.  
  153.      ChecTrak 1.0 can be run from a floppy, 360k will work. You will
  154.      need the files listed on the previous page under required files.
  155.      Two things to remember, the data files you create along with the
  156.      index files will reside on the same disk, in the same directory. As
  157.      the required program files use up almost 200k, this leaves little
  158.      room for data and index files. A 1.2 floppy would be best.
  159.  
  160.      While ChecTrak 1.0 is very easy to use, it is strongly
  161.      reccomended that you read the manual, its only about 11 pages long,
  162.      and it will make learning the program even easier.
