- This file contains:
-
- CTAWEST.SC1 Western Connecticut airports
- CTAEAST.SC1 Eastern Connecticut airports
- CTAEAST.DY1 Eastern Connecticut dynamic scenery
- CTALL.DOC This documentation
- HFDRY20.MOD Cessna at threshold of RY 20 of HFD.
-
- This scenery must be used with SD-12. Default scenery will not only be
- missing some important navaids, but many of the airports will be in the
- water!
-
- All paved public access airports in Connecticut are represented. Also
- included are Rentschler Field in East Hartford, a military base, and, for
- transition to Gordon Fox's GREENSTA.SC1 (in RIAPVD.ZIP), Westerly State
- in Westerly, RI. Therefore these files replace the Connecticut airports
- in my CTA3B9.
-
- The author of the scenery for Rentschler is Rich Bonneau, and Gordon Fox
- designed Groton-New London and Westerly State. All these files are used here
- by permission (and with thanks).

- The following navaids are in both files:
- MAD VOR at 17445N, 21472E, freq. 110.4
- PUT VOR at 17769N, 21690E, freq. 117.4
- MMK NDB at 17521N, 21413E, freq. 238 (on the field at Meriden-Markham)
- All other navaids are already on SD-12, with the exception of certain
- LOMS noted in connection with the particular airports which they serve.
-
- Airports:
-
- All airports were placed with the location and orientation provided in
- SubLOGIC's Instrument Pilot's Scenery. For the most part this coincided
- very nicely with the runways provided on SD-12, where available. There
- are a few discrepancies, however, and the user may want to eliminate the
- SD-12 runways with Chris Manrique's APTFIX. Some of the UNICOM frequencies
- differ slightly from those in real life, since FS/ASD can't handle a
- frequency which is the same at airports quite near each other.
-
- Terminal buildings and other features were added following the plans in
- the TannGuide and diagrams in the appropriate NOA IAP. Using SEE, I have
- set the range of most terminal buildings to 60, which makes them show up at
- about the same time as the runways.

-
- Other features of interest:
-
- Normally there are helicopters in the air between Bridgeport and New Haven.
- They seem to have been temporarily replaced by hot air balloons.
- The lighthouse in the mouth of the Connecticut River east of Madison
- Griswold is at Saybrook Point. I assume it really exists; anyway there
- is a "FL" at this point on the New York sectional. You will also see
- an errant kid whale apparently trying to swim up the river.
- The taxiways at HVN, BDR, HFD, and BDL are lighted at night.
- Watch out for hi-tension wires near Middleton, E of Meriden-Markham
- and N of Chester. The lines were levitated with my LEVILINE.
- I park my car in a quonset at Ellington. If you run EASTCT.DY1 you will
- see my Cessna at the airport, holding short at threshold of RY 1.
- The ferry to Elizabeth Island, NY, is coming down the Thames from
- Groton-New London. It is closely followed by a submarine from the New
- London Submarine Base.
- I have added practically no city scenery, but you will see a crane getting
- ready for construction in Groton.
- This last and several other objects in these files were created by Laemming
- Wheeler's excellent SEE program, using both library 1 and 2. The lighted
- taxiways were also created with SEE.
-
- I have tried hard to set the boundaries of the two files so that there is a
- smooth transition between the two, but I have not always been successful.
- As noted above, it was necessary to put some airports on both files so that
- they would appear at the right time when proceeding from the neighboring
- file. On occasion you will have to shift between the files manually.
-
- Set the static size in your CONFIG.AD1 to 48500, and dynamic to 3000,
- using menu 1; J; 0. There are four objects in CTAEAST.DY1: a Boeing and
- a F-14 at Rentschler, my Cessna at Ellington, and another I will let you
- look for. All the planes are on the ground.
