  1. Here is a list of some of the new features and enhancements in the 
  2. commercial release of Qmodem 5.0:
  3.  
  4. ■  Housekeeping: A few small problems reported by our users in previous 
  5.    versions of the program have been fixed, and many program routines 
  6.    have been improved and fine-tuned. Log entries have been enhanced 
  7.    and, in some cases improved for consistency and clarity of meaning. 
  8.    The host mode and script language have also been fine-tuned. The help 
  9.    file has been updated to be consistent with these changes and 
  10.    improvements.
  11.    
  12. ■  QModem 5.0 now includes Off-Line Xpress (A $40 value!). This 
  13.    QWK-mail compatible reader is suitable for use with the Tomcat, 
  14.    QMail, MarkMail and other QWK-compatible mail doors found on many 
  15.    Bulletin Board Systems.

  17. ■  The name of the setup program QINSTALL has been changed to QSM. A new 
  18.    QINSTALL.EXE unpacks the program from the distribution diskettes and 
  19.    installs it to your hard drive.
  20.  
  21. ■  The QModem EDITor (QMEDIT) is now a standalone program. This is an 
  22.    easy-to-use ASCII text editor, suitable for creating scripts, batch 
  23.    files, and other files which require plain ASCII text. Its commands 
  24.    are compatible with the familiar Wordstar(tm) program.

  26. ■  The Alt-V "View" command now allows you to configure your own file 
  27.    listing utility as opposed to the default Qmodem editor QMEDIT.

  29. ■  If the modem is using CTS/RTS flow control, optimum shells to DOS will
  30.    lower the RTS line so incoming data will not be lost during the shell.
  31.  
  32. ■  There is a new toggle under Alt-N/V/T called Display Nulls. This 
  33.    fixes a problem when using all emulations where it looked like extra 
  34.    spaces were being displayed. This also allows the ASCII Download to 
  35.    capture all incoming characters in the data stream if Display Nulls 
  36.    is set to ON.

  38. ■  DEBUG_H and DEBUG_A emulations now display the NULL character regardless
  39.    of the state of the new Display Nulls toggle.
  40.  
  41. ■  Added 3 new fields to the dial directory entries.
  42.  
  43.       Key File    The name of a .KEY file to be loaded
  44.       Emulation   The emulation to use when calling
  45.       Com Port    The Com Port to use, 1..8 or "C" for Current Port
  46.  
  47.    With these new fields, the "O"ther Screens toggle now rotates through
  48.    3 different views.

  50. ■  Several new "@" macros have been added to the Alt-J keyboard 
  51.    reassignment function and added Alt-W Wide View to Keyboard editor. 
  52.    Here is the list of new "@" macros:

  54.       @UPLOAD     - Invokes the PgUp Upload function
  55.       @DOWNLOAD   - Invokes the PgDn Download function
  56.       @ADDLF      - Invokes the AddLF function (Old ShiftTab)
  57.       @MENU       - Invokes the HOME Menu
  58.       @SCROLLBACK - Invokes the UpArrow Scrollback function
  59.       @CAPTURE    - invokes the Ctrl-Home Capture File function
  60.       @BREAK      - invokes the Ctrl-End  BREAK function
  61.  
  62.    These codes can be placed in any of the 91 programmable macro keys now
  63.    defined in Alt-J, and allow the user to configure these program 
  64.    functions to his/her own preference. These programmable keys can also 
  65.    be referenced by name in the Qmodem script language, and will execute 
  66.    the attached function during a script.

  98. ■  Alt-M ANSI MUSIC support in Qmodem has been replaced with a hot key 
  99.    which loads the Mail Reader program Off-Line Xpress.
