  9. This file contains last minute information regarding 
  10. "Holiday Activity Fun Pak" and should be read carefully.

  12. It is recommended that you turn off any screensavers when 
  13. using VroomBooks products.

  20. VroomBooks installs Program Manager Icons to run "Holiday Activity Fun Pak"
  21.  
  22. Warning: When running Microsoft CD-ROM extension [MSCDEX] with 
  23. the share switch enabled [/s], you will receive an error 
  24. message trying to open QuickTime or AVI files from the CD-ROM. 
  25. Sharing must be disabled.

  30. entertainment - Welcome to  VroomBooks(tm)!  Because many of us 
  31. here at T/Maker Company have young children of our own, we were 
  32. able to draw upon our experience as software experts and as parents
  33. to make VroomBooks that are entertaining, engaging, and filled 
  34. with fun and learning. We hope your kids enjoy it as much as ours 
  35. do!

  37. To get the VroomBooks CD-ROM up and running, please take a moment 
  38. to check the system requirements, make sure you've got the right
  39. equipment to run VroomBooks, and load the software as instructed 
  40. on the next few pages. In almost no time, you should be ready to roll!

  47. Getting Started with Microsoft Windows Systems*
  48.  
  49. HereÆs what you need to run VroomBooks:
  50. ò    A Multimedia PC (we recommend a 486, Pentium or higher 
  51. processor, with at least 4MB of free RAM,  8 MB of RAM highly 
  52. recommended), CD-ROM drive (double-speed CD-ROM 
  53. drive recommended), sound card, and 256 color VGA or VGA+ display) 
  54. or an equivalent personal computer with a Multimedia PC upgrade kit
  55. ò    MS-DOS operating system version 3.1 or later
  56. ò    Microsoft« Windows(tm) operating system version 3.1 or later
  57. ò    Microsoft Mouse or compatible pointing device
  58. ò    Headphones or speakers
  59. ò    A CD-ROM Drive with MS-DOS CD-ROM Extensions (MSCDEX) 
  60. version 2.2 or later
  61. (provided with your CD-ROM drive)
  62.  
  63. If you do not have the appropriate system to run this software, 
  64. and do not wish to upgrade your system to Multimedia capability, 
  65. you may return this VroomBooks product for a full refund. Your satisfaction

  68. How to install VroomBooks for Windows:
  69. Here Æs what you need to do to get VroomBooks going on your Windows
  70. MPC machine:
  71. 1.    Start Windows.
  72. 2.    Insert the CD-ROM disk into your CD-ROM drive (using a 
  73. disk caddy if appropriate).
  74. 3.    Open the Program Manager window, and then choose Run from 
  75. the File menu.
  76. 4.    In the Command Line box, type the drive letter for the 
  77. CD-ROM drive, a colon (:), and \setup (if you are unsure of the 
  78. correct drive letter, try d:\setup) and then press Enter.
  79. 5. Follow the instructions that appear on your screen. The setup 
  80. program creates a VroomBooks program group in the Program Manager.    
  81. 6. Now, just Double-click on "Holiday Pak" to start. 
  82. You will find it in the VroomBooks program group in the Program Manager.

  84. VroomBooks Windows Trouble Shooting Tips
  85. We have made every effort to make VroomBooks easy to use.  However, 
  86. as with all software, you may encounter some problems. The next few 
  87. pages will help you troubleshoot problems immediately so you can 
  88. get going without additional assistance.  
  89. (If not, you can call our technical support line at 415-962-0195 any
  90. time between 9am and 5pm (Pacific Time), Monday - Friday, and 
  91. weÆll be happy to help you.)

  93. Sound Problems    
  94. If no sound is playing, make sure the sound card you are using is
  95. installed correctly by playing a sound file other than those 
  96. contained in your VroomBook.  If the sound card is functioning 
  97. properly, check that you have enough available RAM, are using the 
  98. latest drivers and that QuickTime is installed.
  99.  
  100. Display Problems
  101. A 256-color VGA  display is required, as well as a monitor with 
  102. 640x480 resolution. Given the wide variety of different video cards
  103. and the various drivers for each card, it is impossible to test 
  104. all of them.  Some video cards or drivers may cause display errors
  105. and irregularities. If you experience problems, contact the video 
  106. card manufacturer for the latest driver version for Windows.

  141. T/MAKER COMPANY VroomBooks  LICENSE

  143. 1. GRANT OF LICENSE:  This T/Maker License Agreement 
  144. ("License") permits you to use one copy of the specified 
  145. version of the VroomBooks product identified above ("SOFTWARE", 
  146. which includes at least one CD-ROM disc or may include one or 
  147. more floppy disks) on any single computer, provided the 
  148. SOFTWARE is in use on only one computer at a time. The SOFTWARE 
  149. is "in use" on a computer when it is loaded into the temporary 
  150. memory (i.e., RAM) or installed in permanent memory (e.g., 
  151. hard disk, CD-ROM, or other storage device) of that computer, 
  152. except that a copy installed on a network server for the sole 
  153. purpose of distribution to other computers is not "in use".  
  154. If the anticipated number of users of the SOFTWARE will exceed 
  155. the number of applicable Licenses, then you must have a 
  156. reasonable mechanism or process in place to assure that the 
  157. number of persons using the SOFTWARE concurrently does not 
  158. exceed the number of Licenses.  If the SOFTWARE is permanently 
  159. installed on the hard drive or other storage device of a computer 
  160. (other than a network server) and one person uses that computer 
  161. more than 80% of the time it is in use, then that person may 
  162. also use the SOFTWARE on a portable or home computer.
  163. 2. COPYRIGHT.  The SOFTWARE is owned by T/Maker or its 
  164. suppliers and is protected by United States copyright law and 
  165. international treaty provisions.  Therefore, you must treat the 
  166. SOFTWARE like any other copyrighted material (e.g., a book or 
  167. musical recording).  You may not copy the CD-ROM disc portion 
  168. of the SOFTWARE or the written materials accompanying the SOFTWARE.
  169. 3. OTHER RESTRICTIONS.  You may not rent or lease the SOFTWARE 
  170. without T/MakerÆs prior written consent, but you may transfer 
  171. the SOFTWARE and accompanying written materials on a permanent 
  172. basis provided you retain no copies and the recipient agrees 
  173. to the terms of this Agreement.  You may not reverse engineer, 
  174. decompile or disassemble the SOFTWARE.  Any transfer of the 
  175. SOFTWARE must include the most recent update and all prior 
  176. versions.

  178. LIMITED WARRANTY
  179. ________________
  180. T/Maker Company warrants to you, the original Licensee, that 
  181. the SOFTWARE will perform substantially in accordance with the 
  182. accompanying written materials for a period of 90 days from 
  183. the date of purchase.  If a disk is defective, T/Maker Company 
  184. will replace the disk at no charge to you, if you return the 
  185. disk to T/Maker Company at the address below with proof of 
  186. purchase within 90 days after you purchased it. Your sole and 
  187. exclusive remedy, and T/Maker CompanyÆs sole and exclusive 
  188. liability, will be either replacement of the disk or a refund 
  189. of the purchase price in accordance with this limited warranty.  
  190. This limited warranty gives you specific legal rights.  You may 
  191. have others which vary from state/country to state/country.
  192. THE ABOVE WARRANTY IS THE ONLY WARRANTY OR REPRESENTATION OF 
  193. ANY KIND WITH RESPECT TO THE SOFTWARE MADE BY T/MAKER COMPANY 
  194. OR ANYONE ELSE INVOLVED IN THE CREATION, PRODUCTION, DELIVERY, 
  195. OR LICENSING OF THE SOFTWARE.  FURTHERMORE, ANY IMPLIED 
  196. WARRANTIES WITH RESPECT TO THE SOFTWARE, INCLUDING IMPLIED

  208. DISCLAIMER OF DAMAGES

  212. SOFTWARE BE LIABLE TO YOU FOR ANY CONSEQUENTIAL, SPECIAL, 
  213. INCIDENTAL, DIRECT, OR INDIRECT DAMAGES OF ANY KIND ARISING 
  214. OUT OF THE USE OF THE SOFTWARE, EVEN IF T/MAKER COMPANY OR 
  215. ANYONE ELSE INVOLVED IN THE CREATION, PRODUCTION, DELIVERY, 
  216. OR LICENSING OF THE SOFTWARE HAS BEEN ADVISED OF THE 
  217. POSSIBILITY OF SUCH DAMAGES.  
  218. This notice will be construed, interpreted, and governed by 
  219. the laws of the state of California as applied to transactions 
  220. taking place entirely within California between California 
  221. residents.
