  2.                     FILES ON THE MICROSOFT DOWNLOAD BBS

  4. Here at Win*Net we attempt to distribute up-to-date display drivers
  5. from time to time in the WIN_DRVR files area.  We can't, however, 
  6. distribute *all* updates to *all* drivers, since these files tend to
  7. be so large and improvements and re-releases often just have incremental
  8. changes.  Hundreds of sysops pay long-distance charges to distribute
  9. Win*Net files, and many don't have the patience or money to keep abreast
  10. of all the latest drivers.

  12. Microsoft itself maintains a BBS for download of updated driver files for
  13. printers, network cards, video cards and so forth.  It is reached by
  14. calling (206) 936-6735.  Access is free, and there is a much wider selection
  15. of driver files than is possible on Win*Net.

  21. This is a listing, as of 11/16/92, of files available from the Microsoft
  22. BBS, as well as a listing of the various types of hardware these files
  23. work with.

  27. This is a "log" of changes to the various driver files, indicating what
  28. sorts of updates have been performed.

  31. Don't forget to leave a "thank you" comment to the sysop!  This is a
  32. terrific service for Microsoft to offer.

  34. Of course, various hardware manufacturers may have more recent or
  35. specialized proprietary drivers for their cards, and many of them 
  36. maintain their own BBS system for distribution of these files.
