  1. This is version 3.4 of Gnuplot, anonymous ftpable from
  2.         sun.soe.clarkson.edu:~ftp/submit/gnuplot3_4.tar.Z
  3. This is an official release.

  7. Below is a list of some of the changes. If you think other bug fixes/changes
  8. should be included please drop me a message. These patches were tested under
  9. the following:

  12. 2. DEC 5000 (Ultrix).
  13. 3. IBM PC (bcc 3.1, MSDOS 5.0,6.0, MS-Windows, OS/2 2.0).
  14. 4. NeXTCube (OS 2.1,3.0)
  15. 5. CRAY Y-MP 8/128 (UNICOS 6.4)
  16. 6. VAX (VMS 5.4 without X11)
  17. 7. DEC OSF (with X11)

  25. This version of gnuplot represents the work of many people.  For a more
  26. complete list read the RCS log on the top of makefile.unx.  This version
  27. originally was centered on Jos Van Woude's probability functions,
  28. Don Tabor's discrete contour levels and Rob Cunningham's binary file
  29. IO capability.  It has grown tremendously.  Russell Lang and Maurice
  30. Castro added MS-Windows capability and much more.  Roger Fearick
  31. added OS/2 capabilility.  Alexander Lehmann and Hans-Edgar Koechling
  32. greatly improved Atari support. (There are also an OS-9 and PC-9801 versions
  33. of 3.2 and a Mac version of 3.0 and a multiple plot on a page mod
  34. which were not integrated into this release.)  Eric Youngdale replaced the
  35. explicit function hidden line removal routines with a more general
  36. implicit bitmap (which requires more memory).  Gershon Elber fixed
  37. many 3D bugs and added the "dgrid3d" option which takes allows
  38. scattered data to be contoured.  Ed Kubaitis reworked the X11 support.
  39. In addition, many more devices are now provided.  We have
  40. always added device drivers because we have no way to debug most of
  41. them and only by including them into the package we obtain feedback.

  43. In addition, we have begun a contrib subdirectory which contains
  44. external library, programs, and mods which help in the use of
  45. Gnuplot.  Many of the diffs are now out of date and will take
  46. some work to implement.
