OCR: THE FUTURE OF AMIGA MUSIC PROGRAMMING === Many people were disappointed when the A1200 came out that it wasn't equipped with eight cannel sound and DSP. Amiga Musicians thought that they were being forgotten as the ever increasing number of screen modes began to appear whilst sound stayed at the bog-standard four channel, 8 bit specifications which have been with the Amiga since it's debut many moons ago. The good news around the corner is the CBM's new AAA chipset is due for release soon. CBM have been working on it since 1989 and it boasts an amazing eight channels of sixteen but sampling quality, This system allows a sampling frequency of 100 KHz. If you compare this to a standard CD player's 44.1 KHz, you' !! realise how good this is going to sound, even when using the eight channels to provide sixteen (in the same way that OctaMED uses the present four channels to make eight), All this comes at a price however, The new chipset, boxed in something likely to be called the A2400 (although, as you probably know, in the work of (BM, nothing's definate), will retail at a price substantially higher than the current Models available. Well, you can't have everything!
