LINKING..............................
---------------------------------------
First at all I will make a little
question to you, yes, you who are
reading this article. Have you thought
the following thing anytime while you
were playing, let say, R-TYPE ?
"This game is a bit boring, the computer
makes the same movement every time"
If the answer is NO,then take another
article from TECHNOCRATIC TIMES, and
continue reading it because this one is
not of your interest.
Today the great difference between a
computer and a human is that the human
learns while he is doing something.
Garry Kasparov said it when he won two
matches against the computer chess
world champion "The machine plays good
BUT he needs more experience".
So, in this stage we have to find a
good oponent for our games, and the only
possible is another human. There are 2
ways to play against another human. The
first is use two joysticks, one AMIGA
and the apropiate software like ONE on
ONE, Kick Off or something like that.
The other way is link to computer, and
here begins the real cool thing because
each one uses his own computer and can
use the complete performances of the
machine. I mean, one computer puts all
his attention to his player and he do
not loose time with the opponent. So the
games can be more quick and more
complex. I have tested the following
games with the link.
FALCON: You link the computers via
serial port.The computers can be
any combination between AMIGA,
MacIntosh or Atari.The objective
of the game is to shot down the
opponent.
POWERDROME: It has same characteristics
like the above one. The only
difference is that it's a racing
game.
POPULUS: Here the speed and the fast
reaction are changed for pure
intelligence. It is really worth
