Avidea ClipCD troubleshooting

We are very sorry if you had problems with ClipCD. The application is very simple and is checked and debugged. Most of the problems are caused by the lack of MPEG video support or display adapter properties. If you did not encounter one of the following problems, please report us the symptoms and we will try to see how to help you.

ClipCD did not start when you inserted the CD.

ClipCD reported that your computer may not have MPEG support.

ClipCD started but there was no video.

The video was jerky but the picture quality was good.

The video played ok but the picture quality was bad.

The video was very jerky and the picture quality was bad.

There was no sound.

ClipCD did not start when you inserted the CD.

Check that the CD-ROM autorun mode is active in your computer from Control panel - System - Device manager - CD-ROM - Properties - Settings tab. The Auto insert notification should be checked.

You can start ClipCD manually by double-clicking the file autovid.exe in ClipCD folder on the CD.

ClipCD reported that your computer may not have MPEG support.

You do not have a proper MCI or DirectX based MPEG-driver in your system. Get the latest version of the Microsoft Internet Explorer or Windows Media Player.

ClipCD started but there was no video.

There may be a compatability problem with the display adapter or hardware MPEG card. Try changing the display color settings to Hicolor (16 bit).

The video was jerky but the picture quality was good.

You may have too slow processor or display adapter for proper MPEG playback. Try changing the display color settings to Hicolor (16 bit). Try lower display resolutions (800 x 600).

The video played ok but the picture quality was bad.

You may use 256 (8 bit) color mode. Try changing the display color settings to Hicolor (16 bit).

The video was very jerky and the picture quality was bad.

You may have too slow processor or display adapter for proper MPEG playback and you may use 256 (8 bit) color mode. Most probably your computer cannot play MPEG in an adequate way in any case.

There was no sound.

Check if a *.wav file in your computer works by double-clicking it. If it works and you have a hardware MPEG card, check that the audio cable is properly connected between the MPEG card and the audio card and that the audio mixer setting (Volume control and Line) are set properly.

If the *.wav file did not work, check that the audio mixer settings (Volume control and Wave) are set properly and the loadspeakers are connected and turned on.
