Avidea ClipCD

ClipCD is a video presentation application which plays video clips on a computer. MPEG is the most suitable format for distributing compressed digital video and thus is also used as a standard for ClipCD.

MPEG1 gives a good compromise between quality and functionality and is most commonly used with ClipCD. MPEG2 gives better quality and can also be used, if the computers playing ClipCD can support it.

ClipCD runs itself when the CD is inserted in CD-ROM drive. It can have the following different operational features:

  • Menu mode

  • Loop mode

  • Continuous mode

In Menu mode the clipnames are shown in a text based menu with or without a background picture and the user can select one clip after another individually.

In Loop mode with the menu the selected clip plays in loop. Without the menu all clips play continuously in a loop.

If the Continuous mode is not used the clips stop at the last frame of the clip.

The modes are set at the production process.

ClipCD installs nothing on the hard disk, so it is completely safe and will not change the configuration of the computer.

Requirements

ClipCD plays in most of the current PCs. The technical requirements are:

  • Pentium 200MHz or faster

  • 32 MB RAM or more

  • Hicolor (16 bit) or True Color (24 or 32 bit) display

  • CD-ROM drive

  • Sound support

  • MCI based MPEG driver

The most commonly used software MPEG driver is included in Microsoft Internet Explorer 3.x or newer (Active Movie or DirectShow). If you have installed IE with standard options, you should have MPEG support already. You may have installed MPEG support also with an additional MPEG hardware card for example from RealMagic or Creative Labs.

If you have problems with MPEG playpack check this page for more information.
