You can access
the Options dialog by choosing the Options button from the Save dialog, the
Search dialog, or the SurfSaver Explorer bar (in IE ). The Options dialog
controls the following settings:
QUICK SAVE
The Quick Save command allows you to quickly save pages into a
specific folder. Quick Save does not display the Save dialog, it simply saves
the page into a folder set in the Options menu. You can choose from two
options:
1.
You can specify a
specific folder name. Quick Save will always save to this folder.
2.
You can have Quick Save
save to the last folder in which you saved a page.
For
details on the Quick Save command, see the chapter on Saving.
MULTI-LEVEL
SAVE
This option sets the maximum number of pages that can be saved by
a multi-level save command. A multi-level save saves the current page, all
pages that the current page links to, the pages that these pages link to, etc. This
option lets you set a maximum number of pages when doing this type of save. For
details on saving pages see the chapter on Saving.
NEAR SEARCH
This option lets you define the NEAR command. You can set the NEAR
command to find pages where words are a specific number of Words, Lines,
Sentences, or Paragraphs apart.
You can also set the NEAR command to find pages where words appear
in the same sentence, line, or paragraph.
SAVE SEARCH
REQUEST
If checked, this option saves the last request entered in the
Search dialog and displays this request the next time you access the Search dialog.
ONLY SAVE DATA
AVAILABLE IN CACHE
If checked, SurfSaver only looks in the Cache for graphics when a
page is saved. This speeds up saving pages by eliminating the need to reconnect
to the Web site when saving.
The important elements of a page are usually stored in Cache --
it's normally banner ads that would require the reconnect.
DISPLAY NEWEST PAGES FIRST
This option affects the order in which pages are listed in the
Search Results window. When checked, the most recently
saved page is listed first. When unchecked, the most recently saved page is listed last.
CHECK FOR DUPLICATE URL BEFORE SAVING
When this option is selected, SurfSaver displays a message if you
try and save a Web page (URL) that already exists in your SurfSaver folder. If
the page exists, SurfSaver gives you the option of replacing the existing page
or adding the current page to the folder. Please use caution when replacing an
existing page. In framed sites multiple pages can have the same URL.
HIGHLIGHT
MATCHES
If checked, hits are highlighted in the pages you display in
SurfSaver. This option is only available in Internet Explorer.
SEARCH
SURFSAVER FOLDERS FOR LINKS FIRST
This option affects the way hypertext links are handled in pages
stored in SurfSaver. If checked, SurfSaver will look for a page in the current
folder before reconnecting to the Internet and displaying the page. This allows
you to browse offline through information youÆve saved. This option is only
available in Internet Explorer.
