Supporting current students and the University is a priority for the Penn State Alumni Association. Since 1988, the Alumni Association has contributed $15 million to Penn State to support student scholarships, programs, and University priorities—a level of philanthropy that is unprecedented in American higher education.

In 2008, the Alumni Association pledged a gift of $2.1 million to the University to create 35 Trustee Matching Scholarships, one for every college and campus, as well as benefiting graduate and professional students. Additionally, the proceeds from the recently completed Alumni Walk, which raised $1.3 million, went to create a Student Endowment Fund that will benefit the two student groups affiliated with the Penn State Alumni Association—Lion Ambassadors and the Blue & White Society—as well as the FastStart mentoring program for underrepresented students.
