Episode #27: "Cathie's Covert Operation, Part 2"

Francesca awoke the next morning to a room service waiter wheeling in a cart carrying her breakfast. It was Erich, dressed in a waiter's uniform! He kissed her good morning and then served her breakfast in bed. The phone rang. It was Cathie, telling Francesca that Jerome had called and would not be available that day. Cathie had also called Jerome with the same message from Francesca.
Stakeout: Later, outside Jerome's penthouse apartment, Antonio, Cathie, and Earl sat in a rented car waiting for Jerome to exit. Cathie and Antonio were wearing sunglasses and hats to help keep Jerome from spotting them. Jerome had never met Earl, and Cathie intended to use this to their advantage.
"Here he comes!" said Cathie. Antonio was driving, having the most experience driving on the left side of the street. They watched as Jerome got into his car, then followed him to a cafe on the east side of town, where he joined a gorgeous young buxom blonde at her table on the patio.
"AHA! Caught you red-handed, you slimy French playboy, you!" said Cathie as she videotaped Jerome and the girl having coffee from inside their car. "Earl! Take this portable tape recorder and try to pick up their conversation. We can have it translated later."
Earl took a table beside Jerome's, and began recording. It went well, except for Earl having to force himself to eat a plate of snails he ordered by pointing at the item in the French menu. The faces he made while eating were hysterical in the videotape as they watched it later.
They followed Jerome throughout the day-- at the bank, taking his car to a garage for an oil change, picking up laundry, etc. When he returned to his apartment, Cathie, Antonio and Earl went back to their hotel and had the tape translated by a hotel bell captain.
It turned out the woman Jerome had breakfast with was his sister! No 'incriminating' evidence could be found against Jerome on the Web either. Operation Denude Jerome had failed. Almost.
"For the sake of Erich and Francesca, we've got to play dirty," said Cathie.
Cathie paid the bell captain to tape a phony translation of Jerome's conversation with his sister saying she was his not his sister, but his lover. She hired James and Greg, computer graphics experts, to create phony still photos of Jerome from the videotape with other women using Photoshop.
But that wasn't enough. If Jerome could be kept away from Francesca for one more day, it would be time to fly back to America and it would be the end of Jerome's chances with Francesca...
Meanwhile, Paul was wooing beautiful Jo in Paris. As they sat drinking wine at a romantic little spot downtown, Paul spoke.
"Jo, I want to reveal to you my plans for our future," said Paul as Jo sat listening. She still had not decided whether or not to marry Paul. "I want to put you in pictures. You would be dynamite on the big screen, and I have the moviemaking expertise to make it all happen."
"But your movies have all been... unsuccessful," said Jo. Paul had her ear, though, and Jo was intrigued with the idea of being in movies.
"Jo, with you as my star, we can't miss!"
