To apply a modifier, you use the Modifier Stack controls in the Modify panel. As the procedure below indicates, there are a number of different ways to apply a modifier.

To apply a modifier to an object:
Select the object.
Do one of the following:
Choose the name of the modifier from the drop-down modifier list.
Drag the name of the modifier from the stack display or the drop-down modifier list to the object in a viewport.
SHIFT+drag from the stack display moves the modifier, removing it from the original object and applying it to the new one.
CTRL+drag from the stack display copies the modifier, creating an instanced modifier applied to both the original object and the new one.
If the modifier buttons are visible and the modifier you want is one of them, click the button.
Choose the modifier from the Modifiers menu.
Click the modifier's button in the Modifiers tab panel.
