Downloading updates

To maintain anti-virus protection, Kaspersky Anti-Virus users must download updates to its application modules and anti-virus database.

Timely updating of the anti-virus database ensures the safety of your computer. New viruses appear daily, and in response Kaspersky Anti-Virus experts update our anti-virus database with the latest information about these new threats. You are advised to update your anti-virus database at least once every 12 hours; during periods of virus outbreaks the anti-virus database should be updated as frequently as possible, preferably at least once every 3 hours.
To download updates, Kaspersky Anti-Virus can either connect to the Kaspersky Lab's update servers accessible via the Internet, or copy the required files from a local folder in your computer depending on the settings (for details see below).
Updates can be downloaded either on demand or automatically, by scheduled update. To download updates, your computer must be connected to the Internet. The application copies the updates from the remote update servers and installs them automatically on your computer.
