On-demand updates. Updates downloading process
click Update now in the left section of the Protection tab or click the hyperlink in the message, prompting you to update your anti-virus database, in the right section of the Protection tab.
On-demand or scheduled updates downloading can only be initiated if your computer is connected to the Internet. If
an Internet connection is unavailable, the updating process will not start.
The updates downloading process includes the following stages:
- The application receives a list and information on the size of updates from Kaspersky Lab's update servers.
- The local anti-virus database and application modules are compared with the data retrieved from the server. If you have the latest anti-virus database installed on your computer, a pop-up message will confirm that your anti-virus database is up-to-date.
- The Update size field of the Updating dialog box displays the total size of the updates to be downloaded. If updating is not required, the process will exit. Otherwise, the application will start copying files from Kaspersky Lab's update servers. The percentage completion of downloading is reflected in the progress bar, and the Total downloaded field indicates the size of downloaded updates in kilobytes. Once downloading is complete, the anti-virus database will be automatically installed on your computer.
