Drmapsrv.exe: Drive ShareNEW

Server-only: This tool is included in the Windows 2000 Server Resource Kit only.

DrMapSrv is a Terminal Services command-line tool that configures NET SHARE & NET USE client drive for Terminal Server access.

Drive Share is a tool for use with Terminal Services. When the Terminal Services client is a computer, Drive Share maps all client local drives into the Terminal Server session. This means that the user will be able to directly interact with drives on both the local and remote computer from within the Terminal Server Client program.

Drive Share does not provide any new capability to Terminal Services, but automates a common activity. It uses the same Net Share and Net Use facilities a user could perform manually. It does this automatically upon client connection, for every local drive on the user's computer. This implies that the same securities, and the same limitations, apply whether this sharing is performed manually or using this tool.

Drive Share Components

Drive Map consists of two components.
  1. On the client side, the drmapclt.dll file provides the drive enumeration and sharing. It is placed in the Terminal Server Client directory and referenced through the registry.
  2. On the server side, drmapsrv.exe provides the drive connection. It resides in the System32 directory and is referenced through the directory.
