Title: PROPER ARBITRATION LEVELS FOR THE IBM FIXED
DISK ADAPTER
Some confusion has arisen concerning the hard disk arbitration level when
running theIBM PS/2 Reference Diskette Set Configuration option. The
Advanced NetWare 286 Installation manual for the IBM Personal System/2 does
not clearly state that the arbitration level for the IBM Fixed Disk Adapter
MUST NOT BE CHANGED.
The proper arbitration levels are as follows:
Controller Arbitration Level PS/2 Machine/Drive Size
MFM 3 Model 50/20 MB
Model 60/44 MB
Model 80/44 MB
ESDI 5 Model 60/70 MB
Model 80/70 MB
Although the Set Configuration option will allow the arbitration level to be
changed, the NetWare operating system will not come up if the levels are
not as stated above.
